On Memorial Day, flags are quickly raised to full-staff position and then slowly lowered to half-staff, where they remain from sunrise until noon to honor the dead servicemen and women of this country. At noon, the flags are raised quickly to full-staff in recognition of living military veterans who served the country. The flags remain at full staff until sunset. Whenever the flag is flown at half-staff, other flags (including state flags) should be removed or flown at half-staff as well.
When in doubt here’s the references:

You forgot to mention that those flags should be flown right-side up. To the surprise of absolutely no one, some Villagers don't know that.

I would like to see that rule about putting flag at full mast and if it is a rule probably thought up by same whiners that didn’t get a parade , for me it’s always going to be about the honored dead

Correct except that the entire day is for those killed in battle and no others.

It's full staff unless it is on a ship, then it may be full mast.
Here are your "whiners" from the VFW (https://www.vfw.org/Flag/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=vfw-flags&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvfCJxezx8AIVAqGGCh1dZADpEAAYASAA EgK6N_D_BwE)
Here are your "whiners" from the American Legion (https://www.legion.org/flag/code) (though they quote Title 4 of the US Code so perhaps that makes it the US Congress)

You do know that an American flag flown upside down is a symbol that our Nation is in distress, right? Personally, I exercise my opinion at the ballot and will do so with vigor next year. Honor and bless all who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country on this day and always.

When I see a flag flown upside down in The Villages I think it's more of a individual in distress rather than rhe country.

Displaying a U.S. flag upside down is "a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.” according to the flag code. If there is no extreme danger threatening life or property, then it is generally regarded as a symbol of protest. Which, IMO, is not really appropriate for Memorial Day.

Their are rules how the American flag should be presented and they should be respected. The flag represents all Americans not just one side or the other.

Memorial Day is about honoring the fallen soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen. The flag should be flown at half-mast the entire day. Veterans Day on the other hand, honors both living and dead military members.

Amazing how this post drifted off topic so quickly. I believe the upside down flag thing has been discussed thousands of times. I have never seen anyone fly a flag upside down because the people hung it wrong. Even a half wit can see the difference.

Very true. People mix the meaning of holidays up. Memorial Day is honoring the deceased. (Memorial=in memory, simple). Veterans day is for honoring the living vets.

Unless on a ship, the flag is flown on a staff, not a mast.
From here (https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/4/6):
4 U.S. Code § 6 - Time and occasions for display
(d) The flag should be displayed on all days, especially on New Year’s Day, January 1; Inauguration Day, January 20; Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, third Monday in January; Lincoln’s Birthday, February 12; Washington’s Birthday, third Monday in February; National Vietnam War Veterans Day, March 29; Easter Sunday (variable); Mother’s Day, second Sunday in May; Armed Forces Day, third Saturday in May; Memorial Day (half-staff until noon), the last Monday in May; Flag Day, June 14; Father’s Day, third Sunday in June; Independence Day, July 4; National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day, July 27; Labor Day, first Monday in September; Constitution Day, September 17; Columbus Day, second Monday in October; Navy Day, October 27; Veterans Day, November 11; Thanksgiving Day, fourth Thursday in November; Christmas Day, December 25; and such other days as may be proclaimed by the President of the United States; the birthdays of States (date of admission); and on State holidays.

Will always for me to be about those that died for there country and far to many of them are men who I knew and fought with , so yes I’m sure that some group whined enough to get the rule changed I mean any chance to get RESPECT can’t be passed up by the professional Patriots

This (https://www.livescience.com/9923-flag-staff-noon-memorial-day.html) is the best I've been able to find with a quick Google search:
No one knows the exact date this tradition began, but an Army regulations book from 1906 carries instructions for the procedure, so it predates the 20th century, said Clark Rogers, executive director of the National Flag Foundation. In 1924, Congress codified the tradition into U.S. Code Title 4, Section 6, with the proclamation, “For the nation lives, and the flag is a symbol of illumination,” explaining how the noon flag-raising symbolizes the persistence of the nation in the face of loss, Rogers told LiveScience.

While you all are worried about how the flag is hanging, remember flags are not to be worn as clothing, swim suits, shorts, shirts........ have some respect.

Did you read all the messages about how we should also use this weekend to honor vets because of some rule on the books it seems as long as I’ve been alive 82 years it’s all about the fallen on this day and so it seems in most of America except in the villages where everyday is Veterans Day, because I guess no one ever did anything else in there life

Some people are more American than others.
