How long will they be visiting? We had two sets of grandies, two different visits, both very short visits. They all loved the dancing at Sumter, walking around Sumter Square, Haagen Dazs Ice Cream, and the pools.
We didn't have time to go off campus, although one set went with their parents to LEGO LAND and loved it. Not for me, but maybe for you?

Perfect age for the Russel Stover Candy outlet on 44 just west of 301, great selections of loose candy that they can mix or match along with the boxed candies and scooped ice cream cones. Lots of large eyes in that place. Their parents and grandparents will probably like it too.

Grand Oaks Resort, which is just a couple miles east of 441 near Griffin Road. It's a combination of things, but mostly a place where you'll see equestrian competitions (not horse racing). Sometimes dog shows as well. They have stables too, and admission is free. They also have a little restaurant, basic eats, nothing fancy and reasonably priced. You'll want to check their schedule to see if there are any shows or competitions when the grandkids are in town.

CAT boat tour in MT. Dora. We have taken all of our grands, and they LOVE it. Mini two person catamarans with a guide. You drive, kids ride with you. Also the Canyons of Ocala, zip line, horseback riding, canoes, etc.

Highly suggest the glass bottom boat ride at Silver Springs in Ocala, question the captain about the monkeys there, he might take you and you can see them. Those monkeys are Rhesus monkeys that scaped when the Tarzan movies starting Johnny Weissmuller that were shot there, also the creature from the black lagoon was shot in Silver Springs, you will be able to see a lot of wildlife there. Kids go wild on the many airboat rides around, i experienced the “Wild Bill Airboat” on the Withthacoochee swamp, kids go wild and it’s a wild ride for sure. Enjoy them while they are here, you will need reservations call them

My son-in-law and my granddaughter can’t wait to get in the golf cart and drive around. They put the front window down so the breeze comes in and they enjoy every minute of it.
We also go to the less crowded family pools such as Bridgeport. Another favorite, is uncle Donald’s farm out Griffin Ave.

We took our 4 yo grandson to dinosaur world last week and he enjoyed it. Also did the family pool, putt putt, driving range, golf cart rides to Ednas and the Town Squares.

Some parents and grandparents apparently think it's cute for kids (even teenagers) to run around the dance floor during the evening shows on the town squares. The vast majority of us do not want kids dominating OUR dance floor.
Parent/grandparents -- keep the kids in check. There is a reason why 99% of us moved to a "senior community'

Been coming to The Villages every April for 10 years. Have never heard one complaint about kids on the dance floor at Squares. Seems to me Majority really enjoys watching the young one!

Uncle Donald's Farm of CR 25, and the Lady Lake playground off 466 are great for kids.
Back in November, the Lady Lake playground was being refurbished. We tried to take our granddaughter there. It looked like an amazing playground. Fortunately she had fallen asleep so didn't see what she was going to miss. But it looked like the best playground around.
Also there is a wading/sprinkler park in Leesburg, closed in November but I'm sure it's open now.

I have noticed that some people who live in The Villages think that they OWN the dance floor at the squares. My first hint was the dirty looks they give the children. From what I've observed and from what I read hear I guess that my assumption is true. FYI>we all pay the same amenity fee to SHARE amenities which includes the dance floor. (Same thing with swimming pools.) I suggest that you find another dance floor if it bothers you or in inconvenient for you to share the dance floor with grandparents dancing with their grandchildren. So sad...

The Drag Racing museum at 75 and 484 is excellent. First place grandson wants to go. Lots of very interesting stuff for an 8 year old. And the antique cars next door were interesting also as folks our age owned and drove many of them.

wholeheartedly disagree. very few kids 'run wild' before an attendant stops them. most of the little kids i see are dancing along with the grown-ups, with a parent nearby. smile, you will feel better

I hope they changed the ground cover! The black rubber was a dirty mess. Went once (about 2 years ago) an wouldn’t go back after young grand was covered in black. And adults shoes were black too. Leesburg Venetian Park much cleaner ground surface.
