Since all worked well you can use the word courage. However, I would never encourage anyone to react that way.

Very foolish on that girl's part, she was lucky. You don't mess with mother bears that have cubs with them.

I don't call that courage.

And if it was my daughter we would have a serious talk about priorities.

I am glad it worked out well, but if she had been mauled and her parents faced with a million dollars in medical expenses would everyone still be praising her?

That shows a great deal of courage.

Luckily the bear was on wall and lost its balance, otherwise it could turned very ugly quickly. Especially if the Cubs didn’t get back way they came in.

Does sound like her parents were yelling at her not to go towards the bear.

That bear was protecting its cubs. That girl is lucky her and dogs weren't three appetizers, lunch and desert.

I kind of wonder what the attitudes about this bear would be if it were doing this in the Villages?

Teens do stupid things without thinking. I have a scar on my right thumb from a barb wired fence I went into after I missed a turn on my bicycle. The fence was at the bottom of a hill. The fence separated a field from a Reno, Nevada area golf course near Virginia Lake. Another scar I got in Reno, Nevada is from a bb that went into my left pinky as I was hanging out with an extremely wrong crowd for a while. The kid who shot me went into a mental ward soon after that after word got out. He had been pointing the BB gun at my eye and I suggested he try shooting between my fingers instead. He missed but I saved myself from getting a BB probably to the face. This was in my teens before I was 16. I became a loner soon after this. Until that day after my birthday of 2-24 in 1976 when I fell in with a new crowd.

I probably would have tried to save my dogs if in the 17 year old CA girl's situation when I was under 17. Not sure what I would have done after I turned 17.

For dogs??? Her priorities are some effed up. If she'd been mauled what would the dogs do then? What would she do??? She's ignorant and possibly stupid.

That's not bravery. I've very little doubt her thought processes went: hear noise of dogs barking...see dogs...see big brown thing...might eat my dogs...push big brown thing...arrrrrgh! One swipe and she could have been gutted or her face ripped off.....for dogs????? For kids yes.
