What are they digging in the pond behind the nursing home across from the hospital. They have some major diggin' going on. Drainage? Foundation for a building?

They may be installing a new liner.

I don't think that's the way they install a liner. They are digging very deep holes all around the edge and across the center. Hmmmm

Um... I hope they are not six feet deep.

I think it's a new burial system. They have subcontracted with a local funeral home. :icon_twisted:

It looked to me like there were some sinkholes. I could be wrong, though.
Anybody know for sure?

Talked to several folks today, starting with the newspaper, and the final answer is that pond has a clay liner to slow down the loss of ground water. There is a leak in the clay liner so they have to dig up the whole pond and put in a new clay liner. I asked if it would be possible to cover the pump hoses so we could use that cart path, but he said no. I asked if they could just break the hoses when they are not using them so we could use the path since we have so many path closures, but he said no. It would save going down to Morse Circle and back to go to Publix or the doctor. I tried. Maybe if more people would call and ask they would bury the line between the ponds or fix the path so we could use it. 753-4022 Sam Wornbee..is the construction manager.
PS: Actually there is an underground line between the ponds, but it doesn't work. How about fixing it!

I believe the individual you need to contact is one of the following:
Sam Wartinbee, Director
sam.wartinbee@districtgov.org
Dave Burgess, Assistant Director
dave.burgess@districtgov.org
They usually are quite responsive.
