temporary pet barrier

I'm having lanai floor work done next week and an 8 ft. section of the lanai wall with the door will be open to the yard. I need something temporary to string across the opening to keep the dog and cat in. I would like to be able to let the dog in and out. It's only needed for a week.Any suggestions? I was thinking the orange plastic roll fencing.

So you don't have an invisible fence...and yet per all the regulations here you aren't supposed to let your dog or cat out without a leash. Why don't you just take them out yourself? And don't let them on the lanai while the work is being done.

OK, the orange fencing MIGHT work, but I suspect both the cat and the dog will figure out how to under it. IMHO, I would just get a piece of plywood, and lay it on its side. I folding table on its side with the legs extended might work. They also make portable pet fenced playgrounds ($$) that might work, but these usually have spikes to hold them in the ground.
I will reply again if I get any other ideas.

There's a place on 301, right side of road going toward Bushnell from Wildwood. I forget the name, but it's sort of a junkyard for house stuff. Lots of old doors and windows in the front yard.

When I was trying to keep my puppy on a wraparound porch, I bought lattice lengths at Home Depot. I had to tie two together because the steps were wide, but it worked.

The lattice sounds workable. I also like the idea of using a table. I have two small end tables and a coffee type table I could use that are on the lanai. All excellent ideas. I would prefer to use the orange fenceing but I don't want to purchase a 30 ft roll and use it once. You guys are the best!

we use those. it's a metal pen-type structure aprox 25 ft long that folds up, & is heavy & solid enough to act as a proper barrier. yes, they do cost a bit (maybe $50) but we use it all the time & in our case was well worth the $$.

I used empty moving boxes taped together for a quick and inexpensive barrier. HD or Lowes has them

The cat will jump whatever you put there. Our cat is able to jump six feet high. I would put the cat and the litter box in the master bedroom for a week. Consider it fancy boarding quarters for the week. The dog can be blocked by most anything. I like the wood lattice idea someone else mentioned. Get it at Lowe’s and then later use it in your backyard for climbing vines. It’s inexpensive.
