What were they thinking? Long lines to get into movies running thru lobby set up for Lazy Macs shows. If you want a drink, wait in line at Lazy Mac's counter but if you want popcorn wait in line (again) at the theater counter. I can't even imagine what this will be like when the snowbirds come back. Dumbest idea yet.

Drive over to the AMC theater in Leesburg to see a movie. It's only a 30 minute drive and no lines!

Well you could be staying inside like last year.

There is always something to complain about...there's more to be thankful for.

you're right, it's not a good design. like the other poster said, just a small thing we'll need to deal with in this new world

I, too, was saddened by the lobby there.

Worst-idea in the world was to serve booze in a movie theatre, IMHO.

We agree about AMC in Leesburg; we go there at least once a week. If you are a frequent moviegoer, become an A-Lister there and save a lot on ticket costs. Plus enjoy recliner seating and advanced reserved distanced seating.

And Leesburg has electric recliner seats and you can buy your seat position online for a couple of bucks more

I agree, it’s a mess. Why don’t they open up the Brownwood theater. There’s a lot more active people down this way, that would probably go see the movies more than having to take a half an hour drive up to Sumter, then wait another half an hour to 45 minutes to get into the theater.

You guys are so quick to answer that you forget the whole point! Maybe someone wants to go to a movie and then catch some music at the square or dinner in the villages where they live! That's where they live maybe they can walk there maybe it's a very short drive and they appreciate that.

Suggesting that someone go to Leesburg or anyone else is idiotic in this scenario

How do you like spending $15 on a 3 ounce glass of wine and have moviegoers walking between your tables non stop?

Wait!! I haven’t been down to my house since last summer, so I don’t know the set up fir Lazy Macs. I was looking on line at the entertainment because I’ll be down in a few weeks for the summer.
Is it worth checking it out ? I’ll be having people come visit and was thinking of different things besides or the usual.(shows at Savannah, Sharon, the studio, etc.

Any reliable information about when the Old Mill Playhouse will move to showing movies all week long as in Monday through Sunday?

One of the problems they face is getting people to work. The comedy club was a good experiment during the restrictions. If it’s been a success then maybe move it to a different location to keep the lobby open, possibly one of the theaters.

We were at Old Mill yesterday to see a movie. We arrived 15 minutes before movietime. The person in front of us was ordering tickets for plays at Sharon Morse, picking seats, questioning the cost, etc. We were late getting to our movie. First time I've ever been to a movie and not had popcorn. We weren't sure what the process was and didn't want to stand in any more slow-moving lines. Do you have to go to TacoMac to order concessions? Or do you order at ticket window? Or do you just get in line for the Concessions? We heard all 3 scenarios. When we came out of the movies, the line for tickets was down the side street past the Japanese Steakhouse. All of these folks were exposed to the outside elements -- thunderstorms and hot sun. Maybe Old Mill could designate one window just for other venues and sell movie tickets in between. Next time I'll order my tickets online.

2nd the opinion that Brownwood theater needs to open up. Can't imagine there would be a shortage of patrons as covered up as it always is.

Personally, I’m not a fan of the setup. I’m not sure why they don’t open all theaters or why they aren’t showing movies every day or in the evenings. The few movies that I attended had very few patrons, thus perhaps why they haven’t opened all of them. Nonetheless, I greatly dislike the two counters, paying at one and picking up at another. There is no dedicated menu just for movie goers, no offering of combos or mini pacs. Sometimes the lines at Lazy Mac’s are very long, waiting on folks to decide what they want to eat and often these aren’t movie goers. I’ve skipped getting popcorn because of this. I do hope they open the other theaters soon and agree with others who have commented that AMC in Leesburg is a great alternative. It’s worth the drive.

You have to pay for concessions at Lazy Macs. You can pick up your drink and candy at this counter. Then you take your receipt to the popcorn counter to get popcorn. Be sure to ask for butter if you want it as you can’t add your own anymore.

Experienced the same line wait for a movie ticket behind a person trying to decide what seat they wanted for an entertainment performance. The second window had a patron doing the same. I didn’t know they were using the box office for both movies and performances. It’s not efficient for movie goers.

As others have pointed out, the system for buying snacks is not the greatest now (during off season) and will be chaos when snowbirds are here.

I had no idea they had started letting people buy tickets for live performances at the movie theatre box office! O.M.G. Who on earth thought THAT would be a good idea?!

Probably a COVID-19 solution to the problem.

The most popular place to take visitors was Katy Bells before changing then shutting down. Too bad it can't be brought back the way it originally was. I miss their Sunday morning breakfast buffet and the Cattlemans restaurant upstairs with a view of the dance floor and stage.

We went to the movies yesterday, Sunday. They are now showing movies at Sumter Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I confirmed this at the box office after seeing it on a sign in the window. Same showtimes as online, though online shows only Thursday and Sunday movies.

I agree. I waited in line to get into the theater only to find out I had to pay at Mac’s . Went to pay at Macs and someone jumped in front of me when I was waiting at the register to pay for my popcorn ( the person at the register walked away and another said who’s next and the women behind me jumped up to the register. Then I paid and had to wait in line at the soda machine. Went back to the theater and had to wait in line to get in , and then wait in line to get the popcorn . Buy the time I got into the theater it was at least a half hour waiting in multiple lines. Will go to Leesburg . It’s cheaper and more comfortable
