try wunderground and go to their wundermap. On the right click on "close this add" and then check "precipitation". You get a map of the wunderground weather stations and real time precipitation measurements.

having to jump through website hoops is to buy this: Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/AcuRite-00810A2-Glass-Rain-Gauge/dp/B001G1C70S/ref=psdc_397437011_t3_B000BQL7GE?th=1)

It's a rain gauge.

Buy a rain gauge, if you are here. Mine showed over 3 inches of rain today.

Welcome! That must be a first poster record! Joined in 2013 and took 8 years for first post! After all those years you should know
it's SUMTER not SUMPTER!!!! :1rotfl:

Anyway, try WUNDERGROUND.COM. There are MANY local weather stations with real-time rain stats all around the area.

If you find a site for the info, you won’t find Lake Sumpter. You would find Lake Sumter, however.

Exactly what said above. Wunderground. I was amazed how many presumably amateur weather stations are all over.

If you use voice typing it's Sumter with a p.

Good point. There are half a dozen of them within a few miles of my house. I enjoy looking at the stats from each of them.

Go to Personal Weather Station Dashboard | Weather Underground (https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KFLWILDW51) Personal Weather Station Dashboard | Weather Underground[/url] and navigate to a weather station near you. Worldwide, there are over 250,000 personal weather stations connected to the system. Locate your home area on the map ....... you simply have to expand or contract the map and click on the weather station nearest you. It will cause that station's data to open up. At the top of the page, copy the URL for that weather station, and create a shortcut on your computer desktop. Once done, all you have to do is click on the shortcut to view the weather nearest your home. Easy peasy.

Does anyone KNOW exactly how much rain we got the day it rained so much here? I wanted so badly to post but I was banned for either talking politics or being cheeky and I am sorry I broke the rules. (again) I will TRY to do better.

There is no P in lake Sumter. Maybe some alligator pee and some fish pee.

Based on the question alone I’m thinking you’re either retired Emergency Services or Hydrologist?

I can see why the poor guy hasn't posted in 8 years. 5 people corrected his spelling when he only asked a simple question.

I agree with getting a rain gauge. Here in The Villages it can pour to the north of 466 but be sunny south and no rain. IF you want accurate for were you are, that would be the way to go. You can get gauges at most hardware stores, I think....or farm supply stores.

This site and the world is full of people with weak egos who throughout life need to put others down to prop themselves up.
It is the same posters. Simple, do not care what they think. Truth they do no know or care for you either. Their world revolves around them. WHO CARES.

Another option is to check out Google Maps APRS (http://www.aprs.fi). It's an amateur radio site for a special type of "ham" radio operation (Amateur Packet Reporting System - APRS), but it displays tons of information, including both amateur radio weather station information and the CWOP weather station information. You'll find hundreds of "private" weather stations - those little blue "WX" icons - that report into that system. Clicking on icons will drill down for much more information. You'll find weather graphs (parameter versus time) for most weather stations.

The first time you go to the site, you'll probably be in Finland on the map because that's where the guy who operates it lives. Just move the map anywhere you want to. The information is primarily amateur radio stations that "beacon" information over a radio or directly into the internet. (I can send and receive this type of information directly using my radios - it doesn't "require" the internet, but the internet makes the information available worldwide - and special stations (usually the ones with a green star icon) transfer the information from the radio domain to the internet.) You'll find "home" stations as well as mobile stations (you can track them moving around - you can change how long a period of time you want to see). You'll find my home station in The Villages (WB2UTI - that's my amateur radio FCC call sign) and if you search for WB2UTI* you'll see other stations I operate - yes, I even have an APRS radio in my "golf cart" - WB2UTI-4. You'll see my car driving around as WB2UTI-9. I'm probably at the "station" with the most recent transmission (although my home station beacons regularly every 30 minutes).

Another similar site is APRS Direct - Online Real-time APRS Map (http://www.aprsdirect.com).

I know - why in the world would I want anyone to know where I am? It's useful information for those of us who respond to emergency situations - our colleagues know where we are (it works with my portable radio or even with a phone application). We also use it to support events such as charity organization bike rides. They usually have very long (100-mile) routes that we patrol in our "beaconing" vehicles so that the nearest one of us can easily be sent to someone who needs help. Trust me, it's very useful. It's not for everyone, but for those of us who use it, it's great.

Anyway, take a look at it. If nothing else, it's probably not something you've seen before...

I try to see things from another's point of view. I do. However kidding someone that there is no pee in Lake Sumter doesn't appear to be malicious to me. Also, everyone knows that the tension between people from Ohio State and Michigan isn't going to cause real harm to anyone.

I think what it is, is something else.

Fort Sumpter is spelled with a p. But we have no p in our Lake Sumter.

Go Bucks.

Ohmigosh. Fort Sumter is NOT spelled with a P. See here. https://fortsumtertours.com/

AND I DID read post 20.

We are kidding around with this. It is not meant to correct spelling. This is a serious issue. Tests have been run. There is not enough pee in Lake Sumter to show up on analysis. There is NO discernible Pee in Lake Sumter.
