The sad/scary thing is (and I wish I was making this up) that there are people who use this show, Hannity, etc. as their sources for news.

Fox News Channel host Tucker Carlson had the most-watched show in all of cable news for the week ending June 13th, with Tucker Carlson Tonight delivering an average total audience of 2.8 million viewers. The show also led among viewers 25-54, the demographic group most valued by advertisers...

If only that were true and he and his sheeple weren't deadly serious. His popularity simply proves that the visceral reaction of crazy conspiracies, anger, hatred, racism, bigotry and prejudice - are stronger than decency and tolerance.

Fomenting the ugly base emotions toward those who are different, from those who are petrified that their privilege and societal superiority is on the wane, is a strong pull for a lot of low IQ people.

This is true, and his lawyers stated in court that no intelligent person would take what he says seriously.

Take your fact and my fact and it is a pretty damning indictment on America. Or he is competing with The Onion and everyone is looking for a good laugh.

When you take words out of context, you can apply any meaning you desire. Not going to argue about this at all, no need. Just wanted to point out that one-half of this country doesn't think along the same lines, attempts to denigrate all of them will not further your mission. Just saying.

Just read U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil's opinion, leaning heavily on the arguments of Fox's lawyers: The "'general tenor' of the show should then inform a viewer that [Carlson] is not 'stating actual facts about the topics he discusses and is instead engaging in 'exaggeration' and 'non-literal commentary.'

Almost sounds like The Onion...

Tucker is THE BEST!!!

I chuckle along with him when he laughs at various absurdities.

I love Jesse Watters as well and miss Bill O'Reilly!

"Fox persuasively argues, that given Mr. Carlson's reputation, any reasonable viewer 'arrive[s] with an appropriate amount of skepticism' about the statement he makes."

THIS I will agree 100% w you. And I also believe that posts by some are meant to inflame. Some on here have me responding like Pavlov's dog, I see their name and I immediately bristle, I know snark is coming. So predictable. I'm guilty too, and received an infraction for same on an earlier string after responding w emotion to a positively revolting statement about me. Since then I have made it a point not to repeat, no matter how offensive a response may be. And there have been some doozies. It hasn't always been easy but I'm determined that I will be always respectful, I hope you have found me so. I do believe there can be, and must be, respectful discourse.

Thank you, I too hope for respectful discourse. Even here!

I obviously expected the attacks, it's sad, but isn't the point of satire and sarcasm to encourage discussion?

I think his is the highest rated (most watched) show on Fox.

Not just for Fox, for all cable news networks e.g. CNN, MSNBC (which is knocking the snot out of CNN), AON, Newsmax et al.

But as long as we're talking about Fox News, following are the top 10 news shows for April 2021(Nielsen)

Fox News| 8 p.m. / Tucker Carlson Tonight: 3,023,000 / 19 telecasts
Fox News| 5 p.m. / The Five: 2,733,000 / 21 telecasts
Fox News | 9 p.m. / Hannity: 2,730,000 / 19 telecasts
MSNBC| 9 p.m. / The Rachel Maddow Show: 2,708,000 / 20 telecasts
Fox News| 10 p.m./ The Ingraham Angle: 2,071,000 / 18 telecasts
Fox News| 6 p.m./ Special Report with Bret Baier: 1,842,000 / 21 telecasts
MSNBC| 10 p.m./ The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell: 1,771,000 / 20 telecasts
MSNBC| 4 p.m. / Deadline: White House with Nicolle Wallace: 1,658,000 / 26 telecasts
MSNBC| 8 p.m. / All In with Chris Hayes: 1,642,000 / 20 telecasts
Fox News| 7 p.m. / Fox News Primetime: 1,587,000 / 20 telecasts

C'mon now, that's a darned good following Fox has. They can't all be morons. I think we just need to give that people are so alike yet so different, we all don't think alike.

There are a lot of bars that have fox news running on the tv, but I rarely ever see anyone actually watching it and they usually have the sound turned down, so people can pay attention to the sportscast on one of the other TVs hanging from the wall.

I saw a video on youtube not long ago, of a group home of alzheimers' patients. They kept fox news on as a default, even though most of their patients would just stare at the screen and not absorb a single word being said. Maybe most people don't really actually watch it. Maybe it's popular because it's "shiny."

OK. Those are the facts but all are immaterial to the discussion, we were not discussing the revenue he garners, we were discussing the viewers he pulls in. And again, he is the #1 show week after week. And again, denigrating his viewers will not cause anyone to change their opinions. Denigrating his viewers will however re-enforce that non-followers are intolerant and closed-minded to opposing opinions. Yours is a no-win.

Yup, agreed.

That is hilarious. He looks like a shock jock to me. Basically a troll who pushes up the ratings because people like to gawk at a train or car wreck.

Trolls can be very entertaining but twist the facts every which way.

Cherry picked youtube videos? What Mr Potato Head on CNN has to say about him?
