A shout out to our Villages rec and pool representative, Taylor. I called regarding the constant use of the adult pool restrooms, by 19 service and contractors between 8:30 and 10:00 this morning. I was the only person in the pool and felt unsafe. The men were even using the women's restroom. The contractors are allowed to use rec center restrooms but not the pool. He is going to monitor this!

Are you sure about that, the landscapers use most of the pool restrooms as well as food truck drivers and a lot of others that are in need.

The pool parking lots always have various contractors parked using the facilities I guess you could have more in a new construction area.

I doubt they are travelling to use the st cats pool house bathrooms. They had business in st cats. We have no rec area building, so I have no problem with it. The house they are coming to work on may be yours...

What about someone using the restroom made you uncomfortable? If they were women would you feel uncomfortable? I am a 58 year old male village resident. If I came in to use the restroom with street clothes on would you be uncomfortable with that?

I think this is a valid concern. Obviously, the landscapers and so forth need some place to go. The only time I think I would report it is if I found that they were messing up the restrooms beyond what would be considered normal use.

Much better they use the bathrooms rather than "going" outside. Did they do anything else to make you feel unsafe?? As another poster said it happens in all the neighborhoods. They're generally landscapers etc. The other workers (working on new houses) have porta potties to do their business. Just keep doing your swimming or pool walking and they'll soon leave.

I am very disgusted that construction, landscapers, etc workers are allowed to use our pool facilities. We do pay for the pools, and should not have to feel insecure in our safety while we are enjoying the pool. Why are The Villages allowing this? If we need a pass to get into a pool, then this is not public facilities to use. The workers come in with dirty shoes, landscapers with dirt or fertilizer on them and we are walking in the same area with bare feet. There are portable potties, and also public restrooms at the bocci courts.NO workers are needed to be entering our pools.

I guess they could have used the pool instead of the restrooms, like some of the swimmers. Now THAT would make ME feel uncomfortable.
I’ve sometimes wondered about these people who mow our lawns, prune and weed, clean our pools, fix things. They never seem to ask to use our bathrooms, and they have much more self control than do most dogs. So where do they go? Where should we expect them to go? The restroom at a pool or rec center seem like good options. Those are going to be cleaned daily anyway.
And as for feeling uncomfortable, it’s not like they are likely to carry away retired people and have their way with them. These are people who work hard in the hot sun and really don’t want to be arrested or spend years in prison or even be accused of something that would get them fired or banned from working here.

Once the Ezell Rec Center is complete, they can use those rest rooms. I wouldn't expect them to travel to Aviary to use the facilities, nor would I want them to use the great outdoors as a rest room. In my area of SC, there are porta johns, which the contractors use.

I doubt because it was because of them being a minority...probably because they were male. You see...most of the rapist in the world are male. Domestic violence-males. Racism runs rampant in TV. I was suggesting that perhaps this woman was unhappy because minorities were using her restroom. If she were truly afraid of her well being, she would have left. She instead hung around to count the number of people. So I don't think safety was the real reason she was upset.

I assume that happened because there were several men/people and they were trying to hurry things along. There was no mention of making the ladies' unavailable to any lady who needed to use it.
I also assume that at this pool, like the few others I have visited, the restrooms serve a single person at a time. If that is the case, what makes the men's room different than the ladies' other than the sign on the door? Does feeling "unsafe" include the fear of catching cooties?

“Because she didn’t leave… “ if she was a resident she pays for that pool… would you leave what you paid for?
If this situation happens often, the contractor has a responsibility to look after the needs of the employees. Intimidating residents can’t be part of that.

Again, you are right. Since I pay for the pool it IS my business. I believe there is nowhere in the deed restrictions which explicitly says contractors are allowed to use any amenities or that men can use the ladies. If people were considerate in the first place, men took turns one at a time waiting… if they have no time it is not the residents’ fault. Perhaps this permission to use the facilities needs to be examined.

Of course, they can use the facility, my opinion. I just feel men should go into men's bathrooms.
If it's just a single powder room type, unisex is fine.
But I would not want to be in a ladies bathroom(plural) and having men walk in.
In addition, some men may not realize, allot of women wear one piece suits, therefore when using toilet they have removed all clothing.

This is the first post for the 2 women complaining. If you were so "afraid" then why didn't you leave sooner instead of staying for a 1 1/2 hours??? (You probably spent more time watch all 19 of them, then they did watching you.) And how the heck can someone using a rest room be Intimidating residents. It's been going on for years and if that's the closest place to answer "the call of nature" so be it.
From everything I've ever heard you should be in a pool by yourself anyway. Come to think of it, a gentleman had a heart attack several years ago at the Duval pool and thank heavens he wasn't alone.
I don't have a problem with the contractors using the pools. They build the roads, homes, take care of landscaping, etc. for which I am grateful and I would not be a snob and begrudge them the use of a bathroom.

I was just down in the area that the OP described. Hubby and I were looking for Magnolia Plaza but took a wrong route. Now I really understand what the OP is talking about. A lot of bare areas, much heavy equipment, many workers. There is no excuse, absolutely no excuse why there is not one port-o-potty in sight! In the city these units are always on site when such extensive work is being done. It is completely inappropriate and possibly dangerous for so many workers to use a private pool area. [QUOTE=Velvet;1964147]Do you let any stranger in your house who happens by and wants to use your bathroom?
Workers are supposed to have their own portable restrooms. That is what is done everywhere.[/QU
When on my property I absolutely allow workers to use the bathroom. Port a potties are unattractive. I prefer that workers use the pool restrooms then have potties scattere all over. Be kind.

Guys shouldn't use the woman's bathroom. I don't care what some say it's not right.
We aim to please, you aim to please.
In general you are correct but sometimes when you gotta go you gotta go.

Around where these workers are there is no one other than themselves to see the portable restrooms.
There is a difference between kindness and foolishness. May you be safe always.

Denying someone to use a bathroom is cruel. If you think TV is going to put card readers on the 2 gates at every pool you will have a very long wait.
That’s a laugh... cruel? Please post your name and address so we all can stop in any time and enjoy your toilet. It’s a money saver for the developer, if the contractor doesn’t need to provide “portapotties”, it’s a big savings for them and you get to pay the water bill, enjoy. How would you like to be female, in a pool in a scarcely populated area, have a workman go in the bathroom in the same pool area and not come out for 25 minutes. Believe me, you don’t want to get out of the pool and walk past that restroom to try to leave the area.
If you’re offended by a temporary portapotty, put yourself in the shoes of a woman swimming in a pool for which she pays an amenity fee putting up with workmen traipsing by pool to use whichever bathroom they can get to at that time.

I don't understand how someone stating they are uncomfortable with men in the ladies bathroom turns them into snobs or idiots!!! No one said they couldn't come into the facility and use the toilet, if course, but why the ladies room??
Here's a senerio, you go to pee after swimming, take off suit while in there, wrap yourself in a towel, walk into locker room, drop towel and dress...all the while a worker is outside the door...just saying

I am not foolish! Stay narrow minded it seems to make you happy. People like you make me feel ashamed to live in TV.

Sooo, to be comfortable, sanitary and safe when using the pool, lock yourself in the john for your stay, ladies. Even though you pay dearly for pool amenities.
Can you explain why workman are too good for porta potties or why they are not supplied to the workers by the builders?

I always lock the door when I go into a single stall bathroom. The amenities are so inexpensive why do you care if someone uses a bathroom. I live north of 466A the workers need bathrooms and there is no place to put port a potties!!

If they are at a work site, there is room for a portapotty.
Your amenities are not cheap. Why not let the surrounding communities in to use the bathrooms and pools too since you feel it’s so cheap?

OSHA standard: 1926.51(c)(1) requires portapotties to be provided on the worksite.

[/QUOTEThey are inexpensive. A lot of the villages are built out. No room for port a potties. We are here b9 years and there have been zero times there was any report of a worker assaulting an old lady at a TV pool.

So it will never happen? Remember, not everyone is as old as you and there are some very nice looking woman living here and they use the pools.

Actully, I am younger in better shape then the typical TV female. 20 to 30 year olds are looking to use the bathroom not an assault of an older woman. We are here 9 years zero assaults at a pool by a villages worker!

Playing devil’s advocate, at what point are the facilities at the pools off limits to non-residents and/or guests? And by at what point, I mean a physical location on the property. Once someone enters the gate? For example, if a non-resident, and a non-guest pass person walks in and wants to sit at one of the lounge chairs or tables and has lunch, is that allowed? Personally I don’t have a problem with workers using the bathrooms at the pools, but it seems to me that once you enter the gate at any of these facilities, you’re entering an area that is designated for residents and/or their guests.

True,. This thread is about workers having to use a bathroom and that needs to be allowed. TV has stopped monitoring the pools and that needs to be addressed.

The point is they are using private property and abusing it by men going into the ladies. These are not unisex rest rooms. They are clearly marked. Just because you are ok with it does not mean others are.
Some residents feel threatened.

It does not need to be used by workers, period. There should be portapotties and it looks like OSHA could get involved here.

There is zero difference between the single stall rest rooms. I have used both if tbere is a line. I can not understand how that can be an issue!!!!!!!
