There will be a "Brews and Cruise" festival at Brownwood on the fourth. First time they are having this event.
There will not be any fireworks, but the ad says there will be a light projection show at 8:30

July 4th, 2021would be my deceased father’s 100th birthday. He passed at 87 and was a WWII veteran who, at age of 17, was deployed to the South Pacific and spent 3 Christmases in a fox hole. I will be flying the flag that draped his coffin for the 1st time on his birthday this year with the hope that future generations will fly it again on his 200th birthday. Happy Birthday Dad!
Thanks alone are not enough for the GREATEST GENERATION.

Congratulations, George. I fly "my dad's flag" on occasion, too. Looks beautiful, and BIG, on my little 20 foot flag pole.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

We all owe a debt of gratitude to your dad and all who served. My dad would have just passed 101 in Jan and served in Europe under Patton.
Not a criticism, but to keep your family history accurate for the generations to come, you might want to revisit the concept that your dad was deployed to the South Pacific at age 17. If he was born 7/4/21, he was 17 in 1938, 2 1/2 years prior to Pearl Harbor.

I understand the sentiment but be careful. Burial flags are not the same shape as your everyday oudoor flag. They are more narrow and longer (to fit the coffin shape)

We’ve been in The Villages for the past several years (as part-time residents at first and now full-time). There have not been any fireworks here when we’ve been here. So this year we are spending Independence Day/night in St Augustine with friends and hope to watch fireworks over the water. This is a year that I am especially thankful for our country and our freedoms and I plan to celebrate by watching fireworks!

Not in TV but surrounding towns Wildwood, Leesburg, Tavares. Just google to get more information on each town celebration.

Excellent! Those people who came of age in the 20's and 30's, and served, bled and died for this country, can never be thanked in proportion to what they did.
My dad, also: he served in the Pacific and was part of the force that liberated the Santo Tomas prison camp in Manila, later being a part of the post-war army of occupation in Japan. He carried shrapnel in his body from two wounds to his grave.
I will recall his funeral for the rest of my life; particularly in the respect shown. The commander of his American Legion post, an ex-Marine who could barely walk even with two quad-canes, made his way to the front of the church, put aside his canes, drew himself up to his full height and saluted Dad's casket. You could see the pain in his face, but that didn't matter to him.
I echo your sentiment. Thanks alone are not enough.

Thank heavens there are none in The Villages. With all the veterans who may have PTSD, all the wildlife, and all the pets.... to them it's a night of terror. I don't know how anyone can enjoy something that terrifies so many.

There's nothing wrong with flying a coffin flag. It has the same recognition and meaning as any other.

My father also served in Europe under Patten and in North Africa. He introduced me to his son who lived in Massachusetts. He would have been 102 this year.
