It puzzled me for weeks why there seemingly overnight appeared a dead circular spot about a foot in diameter in my front lawn. I recently attended a landscaping seminar and found out what it is.

I apparently have someone who is walking their dog and letting them pee in the same spot or several dogs being allowed to mark their territory. Either way, I'd like to find a way to stop it.

Where can I get one of the small statuettes I have seen that indicates we would prefer no dogs using our yard, or something that will let people know to please stop their dogs from using our yard? I would like to think my nice neighbors will honor that.

I have always been a dog lover. I don't blame the dog(s) for doing what they do, and I don't mind them on my grass, but when it starts killing the sod I feel I have to do something or it will start costing me money.

go spread cayenne pepper powder and flakes and it might give them a snoot full.

Thanks to you and to elevatorman. I'll try the cayenne.

Here's a link to identify lawn diseases just in case you discover it is not dogs urine which is causing the spots: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/lh064
