I cringe every time I hear it on TV from some fans in the Pro golf gallery.
"IN THE HOLE!!!"
I can think of many other phrases used in the USA that are overused and cringeworthy. This one tops my list - it's SO 2005...

I hate it especially when it is yelled when a pro tees off on a long par 5.
However, I don't hear "you da man" as much these days. Maybe because they are "woke" people and believe the player is non-binary.:ohdear:

Not a phrase but a word that has been misused for a long time. . .
“Awesome” — a word that should be reserved for spectacular sunsets, starry nights, the ocean, the Blue Angels flying over, and. . .fill in your own idea of awesome. BUT we all know that it is not for the silly, meaningless use of that word we hear constantly.
Lately though, “awesome” seems to be giving way to “perfect.”
I had to call in an order for shoes recently when my online connection was not working. You will be impressed to know my order was “perfect.” (I am so “awesome.”)
“Perfect” is for SAT scores (not mine) or for getting just the right haircut or for finally getting the balance of vinegar and sugar like it needs to be in my German potato salad. (Adding extra bacon goes without saying, of course.)
I am always polite to these people who do not know any better and are just trying to be nice when they throw around “awesome” and “perfect.” But they have no idea how close they come to an impromptu vocabulary/word choice lesson.
Teenagers and Millennials are the most likely to use those two words habitually. I expect that. But there comes a time to age out of the misuse of “awesome” and “perfect.”

PGA tour should have bouncers walking with the camera men because the only reason those morons say that is to be heard on television. They should rough them up a little, drag them close to an alligator (if possible) if not just hold their head under water for a few seconds, and then if they want to stay duck/duct tape their mouth shut!

I just substitute the word "accountability," which is usually more accurate and descriptive.

as usual here on ToTV, some folks take things so seriously, find fault, or simply MUST provide 2 cents.
It's an innocent observation folks, meant to be lighthearted. yikes.
Post was meant to instill others to vent re phrases they may dislike in life...

The Phase that I thought was most unusual, was when standing in line to have dinner at a Country Club and someone said to me Full Time, I said excuse me twice because I didn’t understand what she meant. No, I don’t work full time. No wrong answer, do you live here full time. I usually start a conversation with the weather.

While we're at it can we ban:
"Hey batter, batter, swinnnggggg, batter." (baseball)
"Hit'em, get him" (football)
"Shhhhoooootttt!" (hockey/basketball)
I like it better during the pandemic when there was no fan noise #sarcasm

In reply to No problem: my coworker from 1994-1997 hated that expression. The day she told me, it stuck in my mind. I must have said no problem, followed by I'm sorry at least four times.
Agreed - awesome and now perfect have been most definitely overused.
A few other contenders: iconic, curated, absolutely, it is what it is.
In the wings: Not my circus, not my monkeys.
I've been keeping a list for many years. Cool goes in and out of fashion!

So true about it being yelled out when there's no possibility of it, or before the swing is even done. It always sounds like somebody 'thirsty' for getting heard on TV.

Like and Literally. . .
If you like, literally like this thread, you might want to Google “Lake Superior State University Banished Words List” where you will find LSSU’s lists archived all the way back to 1976. It can be fun, and a little nostalgic, to look through the old lists.
