Does anyone have an idea when the Bexley Bridge will be done that runs through Southern Oaks? Also, is there going to be retail etc. next to the new hospital they are building on the other side of the turnpike?

No one who knows any answers to your question will tell you anything.
You may get lots of opinions from somewhat knowledgeable people, but no real answers.

You are absolutely correct; nothing has been announced and no information from any of my usual sources has surfaced to would provide any insight.
Anything else at this point, is as you say, just an opinion.

There are large cranes at the site so looks like they are getting ready to get ready to start.

Down south. The bridge in question will be going over the turnpike at St Catherine. There's a cattle bridge there now.

Thanks. I've been looking at The Villages maps and Google Earth. I'm wondering why a bridge would be put in place before any homes have been built. It appears the right now, it would be a bridge to nowhere.

I'm pretty sure that the area south of the turnpike where that bridge will lead to is where the proposed 400 acre state of the art medical facility is going. I'm sure Don can let us know if I'm wrong - lol. The bridge is also going to be for both cars and carts.

You are correct, getting the infrastructure ready before people move in is so old school.

Check out Goldwingnut video's, there's thousands of homes on both sides of the turnpike near that bridge.
Google Earth is years behind.

Sometimes it’s just good business for the Developer to hold the cards they are playing close to their chests. For example they may be still negotiating for a piece of land. In some cases they might change their minds about how they are going to develop a particular area. An example of this was the entrance and exit to the Turnpike off of what was Rt. 468 and now warm springs Ave. The Developer changed his mind about going south of State Route 44 or did he? Who knows? The Villages continues to be a great place to retire and live IMHO.

The developer owns the land on both sides of the turnpike where the bridge is going in. The preliminary work has already started in the areas south of Monarch Grove known as phases 8a, 8b, and 8c. (the Community Support District/high school area is phase 11 and 12) The Gibson Water Treatment plant is already built to provide the wells and water source for the area, it is just south of the Southern Oaks/Baily bridge area on the south side of the turnpike.
When the developer was given the opportunity to acquire the Wildwood Springs development (known now as Fenney and DeSoto), they may have underestimated the importance of the connectivity provided by the bridges. I seriously doubt they will make the same mistake twice.
My best guess is that next year at this time we'll be talking about the upcoming opening of the Southern Oaks bridge and the roads getting ready to open between Monarch Grove and the bridge. Shortly thereafter we'll be talking about the new homes going up for sale in the Village of (any guesses?) in CDD15.
Here's some of the layouts for phases 8a and 8b&c in the attached pages. Look carefully in the upper left corner and you'll see a key that all the way through phase 17 c&d. The developer is so far ahead of our thinking when it comes to planning, half of us will be dead before they complete what they've already got planned.
