There are several good hip surgeons in the area. My experience with Dr. Locker in Ocala was perfect. I had my hip replacement at his on site surgical suite and walked out before noon the day of surgery. He listens and is thorough in his explanation. He would be an excellent choice. Here is a link to his website:

I used Dr Ollivierre here in Lake Sumter Landing as did a couple friends. Had it done March 10th. Back working at the rec center in 6 weeks. Playing pickleball again at a good pace and extremely satisfied overall.

Can you tell me your age & did you have the less invasive type or the typical hip surgery? Also, how long before you could function alone? Thank you.

I just had a hip replacement in Feb. at UNOVA on Rolling Acres. I walked in at 8:00 and walked out at 3:30 with a walker. It's an anterior approach and no muscles are cut. I only took Tylenol for discomfort. I was done with outpatient PT in 2 weeks.

I had Dr Steve Nguyen. Orlando. However they have opened an office on 44 near Brownwood. I used a walker for 1.5 DAYS. Therapy is get up and walk. He does not cut the muscle. Whoever does it you must insist tgey go through the front. No worries about it popping out. Minimal recovery. Dr. Nguyen has done both of my knees and my rotator cuff. I won't go anywhere else.

Dr John Williams. Great Doctor

Love Dr. Williams! I, too, had a hip replacement but Dr. John Williams here in The Villages 12/29/20. Easy surgery, easy recovery, got great care in TV Hospital. I did everything I was told to do and returned to all activities in 6 weeks.

I will use Dr. Messieh here in the Villages.
He has his own staff at South Lake Hospital, Clermont.
The staff at the hospital are excellent.
They respond extremely quickly.
The other surgeons I evaluated were Dr. John Williams and Dr. Cole.
Dr. Cole is in Orlando, rated nationally quite high.
He has invented medical equipment, wrote a book and has had many articles published.

I am using Dr. Messieh primarily because he replaced a knee some years ago. I was walking without a cane within a week.

Wish you the best.

I just had a hip replacement 2 weeks ago. It was done by Dr. Timothy Van deLeur and he was terrific. He is with the Orthopedic Institute. Can’t recommend him highly enough.

He does anterior (frontal) hip replacement surgery. Minimal muscles cut and much quicker recovery. Surgery is done in West Ocala Regional Hospital. Highly recommended. Someone told me that he was limiting his practice to knee replacement. I don't know if that is true.

Whoever you select make sure he uses the anterior technique (as opposed to posterior). Much, much faster recovery. Make sure he’s done LOTS of them that way!
