We registered several years ago on some sort of national registry but we're still getting tons of calls. Is there something else we need to do? It is so annoying be in the middle of unpacking and settling in and get phone calls back to back. I was told that there is a list of new homeowners in the village that gets passed around so I guess we're easy targets. We're also having a lot of drop-ins at the front door. I'd be curious to know how others have handled it.

The no call list doesn't work very good. We are on the no call list also, but still get a half dozen or so toll free calls a day! Finally got caller ID and just don't answer if we don't know who it is or if it is an 800 number.

For the drop-ins maybe a sign, "No Trespassing, Survivors will be Prosecuted"

The "no call list" hasn't worked for me. I have caller ID and just don't answer any call I don't recognize. I wish someone would invent a caller ID machine that you could push a button to block calls from the telemarketers. You know it's a telemarketer, block it and it will never ring on your phone again.

No call lists generally don't work well....

Best advice: Ditch the landline and go to cell phones only. No more calls! Problem solved....

That's funny - I've been on the do not call list for years and I don't get any calls from telemarketers. I do get calls from people doing surveys and from political people around voting time, but no calls from anybody selling anything.
I believe that if you have a credit card they can legally call you offering insurance etc., because they have your name. But that's not telemarketing.

I like how Tom Mabe handles them.

While it costs me a couple bucks per month, I pay for peace. It's worth it to me. I pay for a UNlisted phone number. Well worth the added cost, at least for me.
