We are about ready to retire our 10 year old Whirlpool dishwasher and are looking for recommendations for a new one. I heard Bosch is good, but difficult to find someone if needs service. Also, where would you suggest purchasing?

I would go with Costco, free installation, delivery and haul away, one year of warranty added on to the manufacturer warranty.
As a side note, I have repaired ovens, refrigerators, washers, dryers, LCD TVs and microwaves. But never dishwashers, whenever they fail it is simply not worth repairing. I would not be worried about servicing.
Edit to add: This is me repairing them, if it is not worth my time and parts to repair it is just not worth it.

just make sure they have it in stock, there are a lot of "supply chain problems"

We are on our second Bosch, and Toymeister seems to be correct. Our original one lasted years, and when it broke it made more sense to buy a new one. Of course, this was before COVID that we got our second one.
Online sources indicate dishwashers last 10-15 years. Seems like, after that period of time, it makes sense to buy new, not only because of repair vs replace, but in that time, new technology and improvements come along which you’d probably appreciate.
We got our new Bosch from Best Buy.

I would avoid Samsung, I understand the service is out of Orlando. I would go to an appliance dealer like Appliance Direct on 441 Leesburg, they appear to have a large selection and state same day delivery.

If the builder is still installing Whirlpool appliances in the new houses, I would probably buy a Whirlpool. The warranty work is done by Fields Appliance in Orlando, but they are in The Villages several times every week. So, you shouldn't have any trouble getting it serviced.

We just purchased all new Bosch Appliances from Aggressive Appliances. They have their own installation and maintenance personnel and are in TV at least twice a week. We avoided the big box stores because they sub installation and maintenance and it's a crapshoot who you might get. They also don't stock parts and in today's environment that can be a supply chain issue. Aggressive gives you access to management including the owner if escalation is needed. Jim Balano was our sales guy, 30+ years in the industry and lives in The Villages. I also suggest you look at Yale Appliance on Youtube for insight into service on Appliances and reviews of various lines. Aggressive also follows Yale to compare their experiences and so far, they line up.

Just received the September Consumer Reports. They have 3 dishwashers they recommend, all three are Bosch. Price range $600 to $770.
Top rated of the three is Bosch Ascenta at $600.

I will second the vote for both Bosch and Aggressive Appliance. We bought a Bosch induction cooktop from them and were very pleased with the service and are very happy with the product. It is nice (for a change) to deal with a company where the sales reps actually know what they are talking about.

We had Bosch years ago when they came out with the first quiet dishwashers and we were very happy. By the way Maytag owns many different brands in the US and I think they're all crap. This last time I got fed up with spending 900 bucks and went with the cheapest one and appliance direct at under 300 bucks. It does the job and is noisy but I figured I can buy three of them for the price of one better one. I'm happy so far

Lowes carries Bosch. Consumer Reports has them as the TOP choice and very quiet. Very reliable also.

Had many others over the years but now have a Bosch and would never buy another brand. Super quiet! Loved the dishwasher so bought a Bosch refrigerator. Worth the money buying Bosch.

Very quiet, but I usually use the 1/2 load wash which takes 1 1/1 hours. You will be happy with it.

Another vote for Bosch here!! But, I have a GE here in my new house and I like this one too.
I really want to suggest that you look for one with the 3rd rack! I love that feature. My GE also has an adjustable top rack which I love.
When shopping for a dishwasher, bring a dinner plate, a bowl and a glass, lol. No better way to make sure they fit! (I’ve seen some models where the top rack was so low that my dinner plates wouldn’t fit.)
Good luck—you will love all the new bells and whistles!!

My whirlpool that came with the house was garbage. Replaced with a Bosch, which I have own before. Fabulous. I have a JennAir in my other house and am impressed with it too but the silverware rack on the Bosch is better.

In the last eight years my husband and I have purchased five Bosch dishwashers. We have moved from house to house and each house now has a Bosch dishwasher with the top silverware rack. Only the most recent purchase, about a month ago, did we have supply issues. Lowe’s couldn’t sell us the usual model so we went with Home Depot and had to pay over $1k! I hope I’ve bought my last Bosch dishwasher but have had no reason to look for service as they work flawlessly (so far!!).

Buy Bosch for dishwashers. The $699 is very good. Quiet! Do not get extra gadgets on the more expensive models.

Our Sears Kenmore gave out after 27 years! It was a workhorse, but noisy. We bought a Bosch about a year ago and it’s so quiet, we often open it to add a dish, not realizing it’s running a cycle. And it’s pretty good at cleaning stuck on food.

We started using the Express Wash cycle, which takes 40 minutes. Dishes not that dirty, works fine.

We retired an older GE that was in our villa last year. We bought a Bosch at Best Buy and self-installed.
It's been fantastic and duper quite (rated 50). We sit 8 ft away watching TV and can't hear it, even with my hearing aids turned way up.
Never needed service, but know that Sears/A&E services them. Now whether some particular part is available, that's a totally different story. As supply chains get back to normal, after the lockdowns last year, I'd think that would be anymore an issue than any other brand.

Have a Whirlpool in my house and it totally ruined my good china.
Had to go to Sam's and buy more Chinette plates. Grrrrr

My BIL ordered his Bosch from Lowe’s and got a 10% discount because he was a vet. Need to order in advance. By the way it’s so quiet you don’t know it’s running ! Great appliance.

Bosch is the best. Sooo quiet. You will not have trouble finding someone to work on it. Chances are you will never need it worked on. I have one in my last two homes.

My whirlpool is awful it’s 2 years old and doesn’t dry the dishes or silverware. There is not a 2 yr warranty., the warranty starts when they buy them for the houses. When I closed on my house I discovered from whirlpool there was only 9 months left on the warranty. All of their appliances are pretty mediocre. I’d never buy a whirlpool on my own.

Last summer we bought an LG on sale at Best Buy (who beat everybody else's price) and it is quiet and cleans better than the Bosch we had in PA. Model # is LDF5545SS. Good luck with whatever you purchase!

Love our new Bosch. It’s so quiet it projects a light on the floor to let you know it’s on. With the 3rd rack we can add all the weird sized cooking spoons, spatulas etc and even drink lids. But the best part is it flat out works. Everything comes out clean, every time.

Bosch is the answer. Our home does not have a Bosch and we are considering preempt changeover to Bosch. I have heard that Best Buy's installation is not the best. We recently had some plumbing work done by Mike Scott Plumbing, highly recommend and they said they have a set price for installation.

Watch out if you are getting installation from Lowes via website. I got charged double because there is a slide out garbage container between the dishwasher and sink, eg. a longer distance and didn't find out until the installer was here. Gee, appeared to take 5 minutes longer to install and one longer hose. If the Bosch hadn't been so highly rated at a lower cost I would have refused.

I just bought a lower end Bosch for my parent's house. It needed to be white, quiet and available. I found what I needed at Lowe's and I am very pleased with the Bosch. I definitely would recommend it.

When I bought mine, I used Consumer reports, too. The washer was around $700 and a very nice looking machine. My wife's complaint.....it was too quiet!! She was concerned it wasn't running - hahaha. She also didn't like the controls in the top of the door (yeah, I know) but it sure gives the front a clean look. It has a stainless tub and I would certainly buy another one when the time comes.

If you want the absolute best Dishwasher, buy a Miele. Bottom of the line, about $1000; top of the line, about $3000. Third level rack for silverware, water softener, and air drying are some of the features. We bought one 7 years ago in NJ ($1300). We liked it and brought it to the Villages in 2017.
Bosch was our other choice (less expensive), but spending our sons' inheritance was more fun.

We went with Kitchen Aid ( High end Whirlpool) about 5 years ago. Took 2-3 hours to cycle and dishes were so so. Service was great but made no difference in results in spite of various detergents.
Moral: Check into cycling and rediculous energy saving and environmental features that detract from washing dishes!!!

According to The Villages warranty department, the appliances in a new house have a warranty that is provided by the manufacturer and it starts on the date of your closing, not when the builder purchased the appliance. The Villages is now installing mostly GE appliances that come with a 2 year warranty.

My favorite and I at one time repaired and sold appliances. Kitchen Aid has always been great quality and very reliable. I have a KAid in my house up north now for 16 years. Still working perfectly as new. Buy the middle of the line or top of the line better sound proofing insulation. Just my opinion.
