I have never had occasion to use a SmarteCarte at Orlando airport but may need to soon, and I don't want to be standing around the rack trying to release a luggage cart and looking a right Wally.

The obvious solution is to send Mrs Fox to do it, but just in case she rumbles my arch plan:

How do they work? Do you have to insert a credit card to release one? Does the rack take cash?

Thank you

Don't know your Luggage situation or your physical condition but the curbside or ticket counter luggage belt is very convenient. Check it in and Enjoy your trip! Smartcart is for young people

It has been quite awhile, but I used a credit card. IIRC, it was $5. They might take cash too.

I have now achieved 3M miler status on Delta so here's my opinion
The carts have escalated from $2 to $6 now. Its easy to use a credit card. Insert cart, look at the monitor, then pull your cart out. Simple.
Or if you want to be frugal (cheap) like me, when you get to the baggage claim area, take a quick look outside. Often I've found a cart just sitting there that someone used.:clap2:

What a rip, for something you only need for the five minutes it takes to get from the curb to the check-in desk. Many airports offer "free" carts, covered by the airport charge in your ticket.

I have invested $18.99 in a folding cart that can be stowed in the luggage or put in my carry-on.

Don't know your Luggage situation or your physical condition...

I'm young, gifted and black.

Okay, none of the above, but just need to shift one 40lb box from the curb to the check-in desk.

Another vote for curbside checkin

Are they still doing that? I thought maybe they'd stopped during the pandemic as I hadn't seen it of late.

And buy a piece of luggage with 4 wheels. Remember wherever you go is a shopping mall or a drugstore nearby. We once took a trip to Asia and after 30 days we were down to one piece of luggage between us
