IMHO, no 'Bond' is more memorable in the role than the one that first appeared on the silver screen and saying 'Bond, James Bond'....Sean Connery

However, I do think that the latest actor to take on the role, Daniel Craig, gets my vote on who was the best Bond.

Granted it may be a result of movie making being far more advanced today, and that does make a difference

Connery would be my #2

There can be only one, and that one was Connery. All who followed were wanna be's.

Just my not so humble opinion.

I think we can all agree that Timothy Dalton was the worst. Pulling a wheelie with a tractor trailer is unforgivable. lol.

Pierce Brosnan was probably the most suave.
Daniel Craig the most kinetic.
Sean Connery the best overall
Roger Moore the goofiest. Jaws, biting a 2 inch cable...really. I still enjoyed those movies though.

Sean Connery is the best IMHO. Do enjoy Daniel Craig in the role as well almost as much as Connery.

I thought Connery was the best, but I don’t know if that was because I thought he was so handsome and smooth. IMO, Daniel Craig brought some depth to the character, and was pretty easy on the eyes.

Sean Connery was the best.
The worst was George Lazenby who only did one, thankfully

Peter Sellers, Casino Royal.
Otherwise Sean, if you read the books under the covers with a flashlight.

For a long time, I thought Connery was the best Bond. Despite not being the first person to play Bond (Barry Nelson played him in 1954 in a TV adaptation of Casino Royale), he basically invented the role. After that, I thought Timothy Dalton was quite good despite very poorly written movies. Then Pierce Brosnan was kind of fun despite increasingly silly scripts. I never cared much for Roger Moore or George Lazenby. And let's not mention David Niven (who was Ian Fleming's original pick to play the role) or Woody Allen (as his nephew, Jimmy Bond) in the first theatrical version of Casino Royale.

Unfortunately, Jason Bourne upset the Bond applecart for me. The films with Matt Damon were electrifying and made the Bond movies look just plain silly in comparison. In response to this, they reinvented Bond and Daniel Craig just knocked it out of the park. In my book, he as bumped Connery off the top of the heap. I look forward to seeing his next outing in the role, even though I know it will be his last.

I remember the first bond movie I seen as kid and that 007 was and will always be Jame bond to me (S. Connery).

I also like Jack Preacher, and John wick sequence’s.

Roger Moore was my favorite. Maybe it is who you grew up watching. Sean was before my time, all of Rogers were my time and most since Roger I have not watched as it is not the same. Line and let Die was on the other night, one of my favorites.

Probably 99 percent will say Sean Connery. But the original Lazenby was actually quite good in the story and unfortunately they did not spend any money on special effects so was not as memorable. Personally I was turned off from mr. Connery as he trashed one of his later movies himself which to me was a terrible thing to do. The Casino Royale movies with Woody Allen and that other English actor was actually quite good and they played it with a straight face during the comedy scenes

Sean Connery WAS James Bond. Those who followed, some of whom did a good job, were PLAYING James Bond.

Roger Moore in Octopussy had the best scene. Throwing the wad of cash out of the rickshaw taxi into the crowd to escape from the bad guys. Brilliant.

I love the Bond movies and I have always thought that Bond never came across as the kill the bad guy and then forget about it until Daniel Craig. There is less humor in Craig's movies and more of a tough assassin as Bond would/should be in real life.

Sean Connery was the ONLY James Bond just like Basil Rathbone was the only Sherlock Homes. They invented the character.

Absolutely loved it when they announced Pierce Brosnan was going to be the new James Bond. He WAS my absolute favorite, followed by Sean Connery (my husband's absolute favorite).
But then along came Daniel Craig. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you and vehemently disagree with the earlier poster who said Lazenby was the worst. In my opinion, he fleshed out the character of Bond and I wish he had continued in the role. Connery is acknowledged as the best Bond by most because his is the prototypical caricature version of Bond who everyone grew used to but Lazenby's Bond may be closer to the literary version.

Wow, so many votes for Daniel Craig, don't know why I am surprised, but I am. Sean Connery certainly was the best for that era. Craig was allowed to show the dark side of 007, something I don't think Connery could have done. Craig has my vote.

Absolutely agree with this assessment of Bonds, with a caveat on Daniel Craig's Bond movies, As an actor he is terrific and does a great job, however these latest movies have become so dark, both in the effects and story generally. I miss the fun in Connery, Moore and Brosnan's movies. Wish they'd lighten him up a bit.

I'm going to cop out and say Sean Connery and Daniel Craig are the best Bonds for their respective times. Movies have changed between their tenures in the role and don't think either would have done as well in the other's style of movie. I like darker TV shows & movies so Craig would get my vote given that preference, also like the Battlestar Galactica remake far more than the goofy original as it was far darker and grittier portraying their life & death struggles so well! Check it out if you're not already a fan.

Roger Moore's Bond films I enjoyed the most: For Your Eyes Only, Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker.
His lighter side made his Bond most entertaining for me.

I agree. Part of the "Bond Genre" was that, while they made entertaining movies, they didn't take themselves so seriously that they couldn't have fun (think "Q"). The part of Bond that made me smile is missing in the Daniel Craig movies. I hope that can be re-introduced to the series.

Was very impressed with Craig's "Defiance" performance and have followed him since. Too many impossible stunts makes the latest Bond movies less enjoyable but still very easy outlet from the real world
IMHO!
