are they actually finished? and complaining to the villages...it's not a road owned by them so why would you contact them with a complaint?

For a while, many moons ago, I worked with a State Department of Transportation. States, counties and other municipalities have an engineer who approves such roads, bridges, etc., and if the the work does not meet Specifications it can be done over. If the engineer is doing his/her job, it is usually caught almost immediately (same day) before completed. I have not recently driven the road you mentioned.

I agree. Most people here in The Villages don't know that all of the roads are owned and maintained by either Sumter County, Lake County, or Marion County. Not by The Villages.

And further, most people don't comprehend The Villages and the Morse family is just a land development company. Once they complete a housing section and all the houses are sold, the CDD becomes the governing body and is responsible, not the developer. The only areas that The Villages company controls is the commercial areas where they collect rent from the businesses. We all seem to think that maintaining everything in our fantastic community is the responsibility of The Villages and the Morse family. So just like it was "up north", whenever a subdivision is completely built out, that is the last you will ever see of the developer who bought the land, put in the streets, and built the houses. We all need to get over the misconception that The Villages and the Morse family still control our neighborhoods.

I think but don’t know for use only BV in Marion county is county responsible, I think all other are district 4 responsible? I know if they have to fix water leak in villa’s ladylake city crews fixed the asphalt. When by Woodbridge drive couple days ago it looked like crappy job also, but the wasn’t done yet.

You are right, because - I think, it is the Morse’ continuing interest in TV, banking, renting spaces for business and more new development etc that gives some people the impression that they are the government or benevolent identity that looks after all, instead of the astute but limited business which they run.

Or people are just looking at someone to blame and hold responsible whether it is legitimate or not. I don’t know whether to be upset or to smile.

I agree, except the roads in the patio and courtyard villas are owned by the Villages and the reasonability of the district they are in. The Village of Summerhill just had all of its roads resurfaced by the county and yes they did a lossy job. At the same time a private company did the roads in two of the patio villas within Summerhill a big difference.

On heavily traveled roads there is Base an then Top . Maybe you are observing the Base Level which is just the foundation for the Top and finish level. Just a possibility???

A couple of years ago Talley Ridge was being repaved in the early stages it looked like it was the sloppiest paving job we ever did see. A week or so later it was finished and had a finished look as you would expect it to.

Just like the misconception the Villages have authoritive control of golf cart usage and the neighborhood gates on public roads. I drove on wedgewood road yesterday. Didn't notice poor work other than needs to be repainted.

It was the same company that did the paving. In the Villas area they ground down the existing pavement and laid down a top coat using a paving machine and mechanical rollers.

The other streets in the Summerhill Area and Woodridge Road received what you call a "Skim Coat". No grounding of the old pavement was performed. No separate paving machine was used. The black top is laid by a machine on the back of a dump truck. No machine roller is used. I am not sure how thick the new pavement is but do not think it is more than 3/4". Up North this type of pavement usually does not last long.

The other issue was the detours that were set up during the paving of Woodridge on
Thursday and Friday. We were able to leave the Summerhill Area but was very difficult getting back. Had to argue our way back in.

Very poor job and management.

If the construction companies can even get labor to show up. I've seen a job on a corner near me where every other day no one is there and the small bulldozers are just piling up the rentals costs

Poor workman ship should never be tolerated. Go after then make them correct the poor job and find out who signed off the job.

What is going on with the paving on Wedgewood road?
That is the worst paving job I have ever seen.
Take a ride and check it out. If you agree it is horrible, I urge you to email a complaint to The Villages.

From what I am told the county is the answer here but not all areas are the county's issue for those whom appose my post. The number to call if you wish to file a complaint for this is, 353-689-4400. Sumter County. Please look at what was done and if you think it was a ****ty job, say so. We all pay taxes and they are used to do this. If "we" accept this, the villages will turn to crap in time. Stand now.

They coated our street in Summerhill a few weeks ago and paved over a manhole and haven’t uncovered it. I guess they forgot it was there.

Well, only seen one good post. It is Sumter County. This is part of the
"micropaving" they are doing and all the info in on county page.

Personally think this will fail and the roads used often will fall apart in no time.
Already have tire marks "pulling" spots and dug up marks from some sort of machine.

The ridges in the road pull golf cart steering if you drive on them just like the old lines that was there.
