View Full Version : COVID testing for international travel
We need to obtain a PCR test for international travel. Need quick turnaround. Has anyone experienced this in or near The Villages? Google research brings up Orlando. I am aware of the at home kits but do not prefer that option.

See my earlier thread (sorry, don't know how to provide a link) in which CVS was recommended
I asked at an Urgent Care yesterday but they wanted $100 for the lab (expected) plus $100 for the visit (for two minutes work? they have got to be joking!) and still couldn't guarantee results in less than 72 hours.

There’s a FB group that has excellent info and resources on it. I had the same question the other day and got answers on, “The Villages COVID-19 Hub.”

My buddies going to Canada found the tests provided at the airport came back the quickest. They were going to get tested at the Airport but were driving across the boarder. Not sure if you could go to the airport to get the test and then go back again to fly out in a few days.
I searched for “The Villages COVID-19 Hub.” on Facebook but was unsuccessful. It brought up some other groups related but not The Villages specific which is what I need.

I took a screenshot of the FB page of this helpful group to help you locate it. I used it extensively when looking for vaccinations. I would be happy to text or email the screenshot if you are comfortable sending either your cell number or email. Good luck.

We got ours at an emergency care center by Lowe’s on 441. Can’t remember the exact name. It’s that little group of buildings on the north end of the Lowe’s parking lot. Very good doctor and nurse and two day turnaround on our Covid 19 test.

My husband and I flew to the country of Panama on 8/3. We went to CVS pharmacy in The Villages. I had made and appointment prior to getting the antigen test. The test was ready in an hour, sent by email.

In July I had to get the PCR and Fit To Fly Certificate in order to return to the U.K. I went to LLC which was up on the 441N near Lowes & Wawa. Very good & result emailed to me in 30 mins but had to pay $195 which is just crazy. I was told it was the only test for int’l travel they did which would guarantee results within the 72 hour window airlines require.

I have had two quick molecular tests to be able to return to Canada after work visits to the USA. Each cost $US 250 so $195 is a bargain. The same test in Canada costs $CAN227.

We had ours done at CVS near Walmart on 466. Got results in just over 24 hrs. Need an appointment. No cost to us. That was in June, for travel.

I flew back to Canada end July. Getting PCR test with results in 72 hrs was biggest challenge. Wound up having to go to Orlando airport to get test at $175 two days before travelling from there. Place is a madhouse and it is imperative that you book an appointment, on line, ahead of time; they say walk-ins but if you get there at 7 AM you will still be waiting at 5 PM, if not turned away. Even with appointment be prepared to wait; my children it was 3 hour wait with appt; I did better with an hour. Husband just booked his; made sure he got 0730 - first in the morning to minimize delay,

Went to Aruba last month - Had to have a PCR test. Signed up for a test with Quest - They sent me to get a test right at Walmart (270 Heald Way, The Villages, FL 32163). Got my results the next day via email.

Walgreens offer a PCR test. We had ours done for international travel at the beginning of August. We had the results in less than 12 hours.

Don't know if still there but there was a drive-thru clinic on 441 right beside the WAWA gas station. Next day results available.

Sadly, that has gone. We used it in March and it worked well. The company says it is "relocating within the Villages" but they are not showing any locations here and they haven't answered our e-mails.
Thank you all for these suggestions. Checking the Italian govt. website daily for changing requirements. Not sure if it's 3 days or 48 hours and PCR or antigen.

When, you are dealing with bureaucracies the rules may not be logical.
I read somewhere or other that there is a saliva test that costs, if I recall two dollars and you can get results in one hour. Where to find this or if it would be accepted sorry I don't know.
No shortage of confusing information. They are now talking about a third shot. Even the delay between the first and second shot, depends on who or what you read.
