Our doctor prescribes Suprep but also uses Miralax in Gatorade as an alternative choice. 64 oz. total of Gatorade that you drink twice at 32 oz. each time (4 8oz. glasses, 10 or 15 minutes apart), along with the clear liquid diet starting the day before. In addition to the Miralax, instructions include using 2 Ducolax stool softeners before bed on each of the two nights before the test. (The Gatorade cannot be red or purple or orange.)
I tend to "study" for the test by cutting back on what I eat for a couple of days ahead.
For my last one, I opted for the Miralax instead of the Suprep (aka ColonBlast  ) I think it was a lot easier than the Suprep I used 5 years before. The Miralax route worked fine.
Re. Suprep though, which I guess has to be mixed with water -- the doctor sends a packet of instructions that includes a list of things that might help if using Suprep. Here is what it says:
Things that can help. . .
-- Always chill the bottle and use a straw.
-- Cutting a lemon or lime wedge to bite into a little between sips.
-- Having a yellow or green popsicle, Italian ice, Slurpee, or Jell-O and taking a bite after each sip. NO red or purple or orange.
--Drinking a clear liquid after each sip. The liquid includes apple juice, Gatorade, bouillon -- must be a doctor approved choice and again, No red or purple or orange.
-- Suck on a hard candy. NO red, purple or orange, something like a Jolly Rancher, it says. (I am not clear on this one because I tend to go "crunch" on hard candy. I don't like hard candy anyway. How will I ever be able to fulfill my role as an old lady in the theater seat behind you annoyingly unwrapping hard candy. :))
The last thing on the list says. . .
. . .If nausea exists from the Suprep, lie on your left side and take a break. Slow down. The prep does not have to finished in 2 sips.
Warning: I am not a doctor. This information is from the gastro we have been going to for colonoscopies for years. Please check everything with your own doctor.
And best of luck.

If this is for a colonoscopy, I was given a prescription for PILLS, however I never took them as they contained sulfates, I had never heard of this alternative.

The over the counter prep is very easy to handle. Glad I had the choice.

villagetinker, Mr. B has the same issue which is how we ended up with the Miralax and Gatorade alternative.

Pinch your nose that stops your sense of smell. And better chilled.

I did the SuPrep just 2 or 3 weeks ago . I followed the directions which state to mix with WATER …….
The “trick” for me was to use cool water and drink the entire 16 oz without stopping as opposed to a sip by sip approach…..followed by a sip or two of ginger ale to kill any aftertaste…..
I would be leery about not following the directions clearly stated on the package …..

Yeah I second Publix generic version of Miralax and lemon-lime Gatorade. All in all, not bad tasting.

Nothing hides the taste of Turbo-lax .... Good Luck
A Lesser known Fact
With your procedure...we all used to scream but now they use Propofol anesthesia!

I'm happy this was brought up as I have a prep kit sitting on my desk as I write this. I'll try the Ginger and cooling method. Thank's.

Get the tubes of Crystal Lite and mix according to directions. Chill overnight in the fridge. Then drink it a glass at a time. I've been doing this for years.

It's funny that with each colonoscopy I had (5-6) over the years, never had the same prep. Same doctor though.

A shot of bourbon for each 8 oz. Mix, it's tolerable then.

Try cherry koolaid, it’s so sweet (providing you put enough sugar in it) it take the taste 👅 of everything nasty I have to get down.

I am a colon cancer survivor and get one and sometimes two of these every year for the past 7 years. Add one of those small packets of diet crystal light lemonade (yellow)...the one intended for a glass size serving. The other suggestion is to get a kitchen timer and set it to 20-minute intervals, get a red solo cup. When the timer goes off, hold your breath (yes this helps) and drink FAST until you consume the entire cup. (don't take sips....drink it to get it down) Reset timer and do again once the timer sounds. Repeat cycle until all the drink is gone. And, like others have mentioned...if you begin a couple of days in advance using 2 Dulcolax then the day of the prep will not be so difficult on your system. I'll be doing this one week from now....is my anniversary of finding the cancer and my annual time to go in for the procedure.

I wish I would have seen this b4 my procedure. Good information here to help with drinking the prep. The prep was the hardest part of the whole process.

Topspin, I know you sometimes take exception to things I have written and that’s OK, but for this one, please take my advice. I mean this as a kindness. . .
About that cherry Kool-Aid — when doing a colonoscopy prep, you must never use anything red or purple or orange.
Any instructions I have ever seen on the prep say lemon or lime or clear. Red and purple and orange are forbidden.
Nobody wants to have to do a do-over on a colonoscopy prep.
