Yup. I read it on The Villages Gourmet Club website a while back.

I’m from Michigan and I’m fussy on my coney sauce . The guy at Home Depot on the weekends and a place in palm harbor called Detroit Coney Island. I would like a place closer in that I can get my coney fix whenever I want it. Is this a place for me?

Will have to check the place out for sure. It'll be fun to compare it to a Chicago dog.

Stopped for lunch today at Coney Island Drive In. At 1 o’clock it was as you might expect busy. Five minutes to order and 15 minutes to get our order: 2 foot longs, and onion rings.
The hot dogs are boiled and not grilled, and otherwise unremarkable. We were hoping for a NY (Nathan’s or Gorman’s on Fordham Rd) experience. Not even close.

Neighbor was there and said she ordered a hot dog. The lady behind the counter asked if she wanted an "upgrade" to Nathan's. Can't say we ever heard of upgrading a hot dog....Think we'll stick with Home Depot guy or Chicago Fire.

I also love the hot dog outside Home Depot. For me it’s got to be hot right off the grill and HD guy does it perfectly. Chicago Fire might work for folks from that fair City but it’s also not a NY hot dog. I still bemoan the day Nathan’s closed in Walmart Buffalo Ridge ten years ago.

Friendly Rag-Tag kinda tattered spot
Stood a while in line to arrive at a warm greeting. Small hot dog, overcooked flounder sandwich, with onion rings. Totaled $11.21 which would have been about 4% more if a credit card had been used instead of cash. Adequate food for the price in a tattered, although recently opened venue.
Order was fairly quick to arrive. Server donned a glove prior to rearranging items in the carry-out bag. THE ONLY GLOVE WORN BY ANY SERVER OR CASHIER IN THE ENTIRE VENUE!
Date of visit: November 2021

they do serve nathan's, there's a sign above the kitchen prep area. i must be the odd one out, because i love this place! we've finally found a decent footlong NOT made of beef. eating inside gets an F, it's a very uncomfortable place, noisy & very little seating. i eat mine in the car, lol

Mmmmmmm, I’ll take an order of the coronary special. Two processed meat tube steaks on white bread, some fried onion rings, and a soft drink laced with sugar. Don’t forget to bring the defibrillator and some insulin : )

Most hot dogs are made from pork.

Went to the Coney Island Hot Dog shack in Wildwood today. Had the Chicago dog. Was just ok. Was the healthier dog with tomatoes and pickles. Will need to try the Coney sauce or chili next. Hot dog seems kind of just buried at the bottom. I usually like a plump, juicy, meaty wiener.

Same ingredients but not as delicious as the picture you have.
No poppy seed bun and no crunchy meaty hot dog.
Expensive for a whole 12" - $475? something like that.

We just went there a few days ago. We are from RI and this is the closet thing we have found to a NY System wiener. We had the traditional hotdog made from beef, chicken and pork, Coney Island sauce, onions and celery salt. It was great!

We stopped by to try them out, hoping for something close to a Detroit- or Flint-style Coney Island experience. We circled the parking lot twice along with a couple of other cars, trying to find a parking spot. No such luck. The place looks to small to comfortably seat the number of people associated with the cars in the lot. We'll try again some day but the comments about the hot dog being boiled (it should really be grilled), made of "not beef" (it should really be ALL beef) are putting me off a bit. I'm spoiled by Coney Islands that served properly grilled, all-beef Koegel's hot dogs back in Michigan.
Since the Koegel's On The Road service cancelled their Florida fall trip this year, I am seriously jonesing for a good hot dog. Hopefully they will be back in the spring and I can cook myself (and my friends) real hot dogs.

I went there last weekend and liked it. Had a coney island and onions dog, and enjoyed it. The coney sauce was totally different that what I'm use to, but I liked it. If your familiar with Rhode Island and Southern Mass, it's not like NY system's mostly fine ground beef sauce. They made a mistake and gave me a New Yorker, which was a foot long with relish, mustard, sauerkraut, and another condiment, but they didn't charge me. I brought it back and gave to a friend who loved it. I like the dogs at Home depot too, but don't like the Detroit coney...different stokes for different folks. Just because it's not like home doesn't make it bad for me. If anyone goes to Costco in Altamonte Springs, there's a Chicago Dog on Rt 441 not far from it. I had a Chicago dog there (first one ever) and thought it was very good, but can't say if it was as good as one from Chicago.
