Yamaha oil warning light

Bought a used golf cart and the previous owner removed the oil warning light and put a gas gauge there. I want to put the light back but do not have any part numbers for a replacement. Or is there an aftermarket unit available?

Ok, I sure any cart repair shop can fix it. Or get online parts store parts breakdown see it it’s listed? Now, if you wait till the light come on you’re goose is cooked. Being you got used cart and unfamiliar with oil consumption (if any) why not check oil once week for month. This way you get idea if it consumes any oil and how much. That way you won’t have to wait till light comes on and pour in about quart? One more suggestion I would change oil so you get fresh clean oil to start with.

I thought the light was for low oil? Not no oil. Seems like it should set the light off before any damage.

I do intend to check the oil regularly but things do happen. BTW, is 10w40 the correct oil?

I don’t know what year you have but, sure it’s G29. You can pull,up,other diagrams using the little Up arrow. Or start at top.

Usually the oil has to be pretty low before it sets the light off. Which means lot of heat build up from low on oil?

I scanned through IPB. I didn’t see low oil warning light, it might be dealer add on? If so it will be hard to find. If you really want it you may have to go to village golf carts and ask them?

Thanks for that link. I looked through a few of the models in your link and didn’t see the light either. I did find a nice oil level light on Amazon that said it was a low oil pressure light and it doesn’t include a pressure sensor. So I assume since it is just a light it should work when connected to the low oil sensor. Would that be correct?

First the year of the golf cart is very important. The previous owner may have had the yamaha fuel gauge that INCLUDES a small red light near the top of the gauge, if you you do not need to do anything. If the cart is an older model, then the light is for low oil, if it is a newer EFI type the light can come on and FLASH when the key is turned off. The first flashes are longer (first digit) then there is a short time delay and then shorter flashes (second digit). These are error codes for the engine/EFI system.

Back to your original question, you should be able to get any 12 volt LED panel light from an automotive store, and connect the black wire to ground, and the red wire to the wire that went to the original light. This light should come on for a short time when you first start the cart.

Overpriced (IMHO) but yes it will work, I probably have a dozen sitting in my garage that you can have for a few dollars.

You have find the vin number. Did it come with owners manuals? Here picture of mine it’s 2012 1/2 FI. Shows where Vin number located. Look close at top picture where the circle stops at top. I doubt the changed location?

I have a 2017 service manual, over 400 pages hardcopy, never found a PDF version. This should be very close to what you have. Wiring diagrams are typically available with some searching.
