Coming soon to our neighborhood a new BJ's Wholesale. ( A division of Walmart similar to Costco). Will be next to Lowe's on 441 behind the WAWA Gas station.
Had one in Pompano and it was competition for Costco. Will certainly beat Sam's.

Got a guest pass for 90 days when we first moved here to the one in Orlando. Singularly unimpressed. Totally disorganized with a very poor selection compared to COSTCO and even Sam's. Don't get too excited.

The one we visited somewhere in Orlando area had a very nice deli counter and seem well organized with nice selections.

We love BJs, big in New England. Owned by the people that own Marshall’s, TJ Maxx and Homegoods. It will be great to have and to get there by golf cart is even better.

Not a problem as the seat folds down. Made it home with 4 Adirondack rocking chairs and 2 tables on the back that we bought at Lowe’s.

All the major retail construction is going on in The Villages north of 44. Says a lot about the future of the new sections. We will give BJ a try.

Yes it is and BJ's stands for Berkley and Jensen, their house brand. We regularly go to BJs when in our home in Rhode Island. Just so happens we were there today. We'll be returning to Florida soon and we'll shop again at Sam's in Ocala.

And speaking of Costco one is coming to our town in Rhode Island ( and it's not a rumor).

Not quite right on the ownership. BJ's is privately owned. Sam's is part of Walmart.
BJ's Wholesale Club, which has 215 warehouses spanning 16 states, closely competes with Costco and Sam's Club, a unit of Walmart. The company was taken private by equity firms Leonard Green & Partners LP and CVC Capital in 2011 for $2.8 billion.Jun 27, 2018

Mine does too - I got the 4 seat conversion from Buggies Unlimited and my old Yamaha Gas now converts into a mini-pick up truck and I also have a tow receiver so I can tow a small trailer !! Brilliant !!

What's not commonly known is that BJs has an ongoing military (including veterans) membership discount.

Here's what I would do if you're a vet or active duty - first, see if BJs is going to offer a highly discounted annual membership price (first year, only) for this new store. If so, you might want to go with that for the first year, depending upon the price.

Going forward, though, be sure to switch your membership to the military discounted version. Here's the link for that: Get over 25% off your BJ’s Wholesale Club Membership PLUS a $10 coupon - ID.me (https://hosted-pages.id.me/bjs-wholesale-club)

Military membership is $40 annually vs. $55 annually. Additionally, you get a $10 (one-time) coupon when you sign up for the military membership.

I don't know why anyone would purchase groceries, other items from a place that charged you to get in. That alone makes your items higher priced from the get go. Never made sense to me. Plus if you use coupons, I have much better deals on smaller sizes and multiple coupons and save more money. Most people who go to Sam's, Costco, etc. think they are saving money but they really are not.

At the end of the year there is no doubt in my mind we have saved several hundred dollars by purchasing at Sams.

Excellent quality and better produce than we would get at other supermarkets.

Additional information to cram into an already crowded brain: "No matter how many times it changed hands though, the name BJ's Wholesale Club, persisted — so where did it come from? It may be tempting to assume that BJ's would simply stand for its brand Berkley Jensen, but it turns out that the name goes quite a ways back, right to those founding days in the '80s. Much in the same vein as Wendy's founder Dave Thomas, the famous B.J. initials actually came from Beverly Jean Weich, the daughter of the original owner and first president of the company, Mervyn Weich. That's a tribute that has definitely stood the test of time."

Obviously, location is the primary factor in choosing one over the other. My reason for using BJ's is the number of items that are stocked. The other two are similar, but don't carry as many items.

I had a membership for at least 3 years up here in Albany. They have an excellent meat department if you can buy lots, divide it and freeze it. But the rest of it is brands I didn't want to buy, very limited, and over time I bought less and less there. I didn't miss it at all once I stopped shopping there.

I lived in Shrewsbury...Spag's was a great store

unfortunately Anthony Borgartti died without a will and the Feds and the state took the lion's share of his wealth...his four daughters tried to keep it going, but they just didn't have enough working capital

We drove down to BJ’s in Clermont for the first time. Scanned everything we buy normally at Costco or Sams. My app totaled about 21% higher for my normal items. The deli was ok, but only pre sliced was available, so guessing it’s how things will be for awhile. For us easier to drive to a base, Costco and TJ’s. It just works better for us. If we go to a Sam’s we stop when we are in Gainesville, bigger store, not as chaotic, then TJ’s. Everyone has their shopping habits, what works for one doesn’t for others.

Use to go to Spags all the time as a kid. It was a great place. Eventually was bought by Building 19 and closed when Building 19 went bankrupt.

Lowes is. You can get to Walmart, Sonic, Dollar Tree, Lowes and the new BJs by golf cart. Go over the Spanish Springs bridge, stay left, go through 2 entry way stop signs and then take a left onto the cart path. Be sure to have your gate card as you need it both ways.

The BJ's we went to sliced meat and cheese to order. No idea how others handle deli.

The day we were there not enough staff to work deli, so items were in the counter in various weights, pre sliced. However the per pound price for what we buy was higher than our normal. Plus the other items that we normally buy were over 20% higher. My shopping app scans barcode and gives me price for the stores we buy from. Their organic and kosher items were disappointing, but that could be from supply chain issues.

As I said everyone shops where they are happy with the product, and customer service. For us Costco wins hands down, for both. TJ’s for organic and kosher. Then the base for staple and meat. Up north we drive 20 plus minutes to a so so grocery, or 40 minutes to Costco, Sam’s, TJ’s, and Whole Foods, and the base, we make the trip about once a month. We grow vegetables, and we stop at farmers market to support the locals.

I like our Sam's Club. Pretty much like the one in Cincinnati, where the Costco was right next door. We belonged to both.

We have never been in a BJ'S or a Trader Joes.

People tell me all of the time that they love Trader Joes, but they always name some very unusual things they sell that I haven't ever bought. I am sure they are right, but my curiosity is huge about these places.
