View Full Version : Men's hair stylist recommendation?

definitely do not want a barber. I'm male, but I wear my hair a bit longer and i need someone who knows what they are doing - eg, they didn't get trained at Hair Cuttery!! :) I'm not looking for the typical short men's haircut. I had someone in my previous city and it's a pity after all this time that I no longer have access to this place, but that's life.
if anyone can recommend such a stylist, I would be grateful.

no way I'm going to one of those butcher shops. If I was wearing a really short, typical old man haircut, fine. but I don't

You quoted the wrong person. I don’t give a rip about your hair or your feelings about old men. With any luck you will be one sooner or later.

Understood. Being an old man is not chronological , it is a state of mind. Good luck with the stylist.

I am a fan of the way our male villagers look and most of them have short hair. Some have no hair in certain areas, but most of them are wonderfully interesting, funny, confident, and enjoy golf. It wasn't until recently that male golfers began sporting longer hair and it makes them look like tennis players or soccer players to ME and Golf is my favorite. I enjoy talking to and listening to older men and over the long lockdown, I became fairly good at cutting my husbands hair.
He has short hair and I think he is very, very handsome and he is so patient of me and doesn't linger on the wrinkles that have crept into my face. He seems to see the cute blonde that I used to be.
I really don't like for folks to be critical of old men.
I like them and especially mine.

I think it's a bit of both. I just don't want the typical short haircut style I see around here, that's all. Need someone who won't try and do that to me, that's all. :)
I have at least one lead.
thanks

I like Shelby Newbrey in Ocala. She was at Sport Clips but moved into her own small studio recently. Specializes in men's hair. 352 484 8628. She was the store manager so has a good head on her shoulders.

If you can afford it try TouLou's in Wildwood on Main Street. Just go in and ask them what they can do for you, very easy to talk with them.

Do yourself a favor and see Katrina at Bella Hair in Spanish Springs. Phone 352-7531500. This place is not a Barber Shop. Several years with her now and she is excellent. You will pay a bit more at $24.00 plus tip but you will be happy.
I get it in that not all of us can wear a crew cut or flat top.

A certified Master Stylist is a qualification I look for.
All of my husband's best stylists were named Kim for some reason - even an awesome one at Hair Cuttery - there was always a line for her while other stylists weren't busy.

Remember this song from 1971?
Signs?
"And the sign said "Long-haired freaky people need not apply"
So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said "You look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do"
So I took off my hat, I said "Imagine that. Huh! Me workin' for you!"
Whoa-oh-oh"

Mel does a decent job at Cal’s Sumter Landing. Just my opinion but here in TV the barber shops try to put out a client every 15 minutes in most shops and that works with a few really good barbers but I’ve seen a number of poor quality haircuts in those short 15 minutes. For years my barber only took 3 clients an hour and the extra five minutes and 4.00/5.00 made a difference. Prior to retirement I was a bit more serious about my haircut. OP, men hair stylist are few in TV. I have a friend who goes to Bella Hair in Spanish Springs and another post recommended Katrina so maybe that’s the one. Good luck. :ho:

The bald look with unsaved mighty popular. If don’t like that just let the hair grow on back if you’re neck. :duck:

Brother you're old and no amount of hair changes that. Example is those that Dye their hair and those with a rug.

thanks for you're input. you don't know how old I am. I have a full head. I don't dye and I don't wear a rug.
sorry that you do?
don't be a hater. I asked for recommendations for a stylist, not smart-ass comments. have a nice day
