Red,

Take Buena Vista down to where it dead ends into where Brownwood will be, that is 44. Turn right on 44 and g0 to 301. Left on 301 and it will take you right to I 75....I would say go north on I 75 until you get to my house in Cincinnati, but we are heading down there day after tomorrow.

I have a hug for you.

One option is 466A to 301N and pick up 75N just west of Ocala. I do not remember the exit number onto 75N but googlemaps will show it. The travel times must be very close, but I enjoy the views of the back roads.

One advantage of using 44W Gracie mentioned is that it does go right by Russell Stover :icon_hungry:

After I posted the first time, I looked up on googlemaps, here is the link. On the left of the screen it shows 3 suggested routes you can select and look at:

WOW, it shows how closely I read posts sometimes, I thought Gracie's post was taking 44W to route 75N :ohdear:

Maybe a bit more coffee will help.....

If you turn left onto 301 from 44 you will reach the turnpike, not I-75.

If you want to access I-75 you should continue straight west on 44 through the 301 intersection. It's at least a couple miles down the road past Russell Stover.

Gracie is correct that the easiest way to reach 44 is on Buena Vista all the way down.

oooops. You are right Chacam. Sweetie drives us home and we had only taken that new way twice.

Does it seem like I am always saying, you are right Chacam?

Remember when I insisted that there are only THREE Bridgeports? You said there were five listed in the official villages site. Now there are going to be five very soon. You were right Chacam. You are right Chacam.

Why not just take 446A out to 301 and take a left on 301 and a right on 44 to I75N. That seems like the shortest way.

You can get dizzy taking Buena Vista from 446A to 44 with all of those roundabouts you have to go through!

It's six one way, half a dozen the other. As I said we had only done it twice returning to Ohio, once when it just opened at the end of the season and once when we returned in the middle of July.

It is still new enough that we like to drive through that area where there will be thousands of new homes....even with the roundabouts.

Red asked for directions from 466A..and that is the reason I replied like I did.

We find it easier to use 466A to get to the interstate because we live near the southernmost part of The Villages. (instead of taking Morse or Buena Vista north)

So I was telling you to go south to take I75 north. That is how we do it.

Redwitch has the shortest way and very minor construction. When we were going back and forth from Naples that is the way we took.

You can also take 466A toward Wildwood and turn left on to Hwy 139 at the new Villages Library / County Services Center. It has been widened and re-paved all the way down to Hwy 44. I prefer this route rather than going down Buena Vista to Hwy 44.

As you can see, there are several ways to go. My TomTom (the British B-tch) always gets me there using Gracie's original directions (Taking 301 to the Turnpike then I75). It seems to be a little faster and avoids the construction on 44 between 301 and I75. Using Buena Vista to get to 44 avoids the construction on 466A by the new county building. By the way, the portion of the Turnpike between 301 and I75 is toll free.

I somehow miscommunicated once again. Sweetie doesn't take us on the turnpike to get to I 75.

When you look at the map I 75 kind of curves to the east as it is close to the bottom part of TV.

It is Buena Vista to 44 to I 75. That is how we go.

I think.:mornincoffee:

If you click on the link, you will see a nice map which can be zoomed in or out. On the left of the screen it shows 3 suggested routes you can select and get details for.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Co+Rd+466&daddr=I-75+N&hl=en&geocode=FWpJuQEdGkEd-w%3BFVXZvgEdrrwZ-w&mra=mrv&mrcr=0&sll=28.972104,-82.021866&sspn=0.247194,0.527&ie=UTF8&ll=29.099377,-82.017059&spn=0.246889,0.527&z=12

First is 301 up to Ocala through horse country. I like this as an option unless some major construction. Shorter, about the same time and nice change

The third suggested route on the map is the on Gracie takes..... I think ;)

I have just come back to post again on this thread to tell you that I am as dumb as a rock. (which many of you already knew and some have told me) My geography teacher, Mr. Federer is rolling in his grave. It is the FLORIDA TURNPIKE that curves slightly to the east at the bottom of The Villages.

Tomorrow, we will get on I 75 which is very close to our home in West Chester, Ohio and stay on I 75 until we exit at Wildwood and we should be home with all of you about ten tomorrow night.

Please overlook my faults and come to my house next week for a get together. I think like Thursday?? How is that?

Here's my route:

Head west on 466. It curves to the right and becomes 475, running right next to 75. Continue to you get to route 484. Make a left, you will run right into an on ramp for I75.

The best and easiest route is to take 466A and turn left on 301. Take 301 south all the way to the Florida turnpike and turn right (about 1/2 mile south of 44) onto the turnpike and it will take you to 75 north. It is easier and quicker than taking 44 and dealing with the traffic before you get to the 75 north entrance ramp. Do the same in reverse when returning to the Villages. South on 75 and get on the turnpike towards Orlando. Get off at the first exit which is 301. You have to go south on 301 and do a U turn to get headed back north on 301. Turn right on 466A to get back to where you started.

Anybody out there remember "Bert and I"? One of their routines sounds somewhat like the above and the final answer was, "You can't get theyah from heyah".

Now that the bridge is open over the RR tracks, Route 44 seems to be the best way. The best way to get on 44 depends on where in TV you live.

BTW, I use the 44/I75 interchange twice a week and find it to be no problem. However, exiting when coming from Tampa can get a little hairy but this thread is not concerned with that approach.

Thanks for all the info -- passed it along to a friend who needed it. I usually go from 441 and I love taking the back roads (usually get myself deliberately lost and then use my GPS to get me back on track).

441 North to 484 (light just south of Mtk of Marion)
left on 484 to I-75 (exit 341) with a stop at Don Garlitz Museum of Drag Racing.

Staying on Buena Vista all way to 44 keeps you out of construction on 466A and it is a straight shot to I 75.
