Hawk hanging out on our back fence

Our one villa backs up to a preserve and there are always big birds hanging out.

There was a Great Horned Owl a week or so ago and we got this guy eyeballing up a squirrel this week.

The Squirrel was frozen. He wouldn't move. He was making a sound, but absolutely still otherwise.

As soon as I opened up the slider, the hawk took off, the squirrel breathed a sigh of relief and ran off.

Although tree rats are a pain, I'd rather the hawk feed on mice and other little rodents that might try to live in my house :)

Of course, since we're doing an addition right now, the soffits are all open and a squirrel seems to have found a new hangout.
