We finally made it! Here we are in our little rental, all our worldly possessions in storage, ready to make an offer tomorrow on what we believe to be a great decision. It's all a bit surreal. We look out the window and where we used to see a giant pine, we see a beautiful palm. The weather is the same as we left Denver, should be colder now, but it's almost like time is standing still.
We're not even here a week and Dan already is being called back to Colorado for work which means I'll be alone next week. I'll venture out with Kodiak to the dog park and take the Garmin everywhere I go. Maybe I should pack a lunch for both of us. If you see me, point me in the right direction!
We're very happy to be here and starting this new phase of our life. Everyone we've met so far thinks we should move into their village, we've been welcomed everywhere we go. I'm tired of living out of boxes and living in someone else's house (even though it is very nice here).
Everything has run so smoothly from the sale of our home to the delivery of our stuff to finding important paperwork in storage when we found out today that Dan's drivers license expired on the trip down here to finding what we believe to be the perfect home for us, to Kodiak being perfectly behaved. It's all good!
I can't wait to get settled and get into the social routine: some water aerobics, some dulcimer practice, some stained glass, some crochetting, some tia chi and low impact aerobics and maybe a book or travel club.
I hope to meet you all one day, you've given us so much good advise that I feel we have a good handle on how to proceed. Thanks for everything.
Now if I can only find my way around!
When is the next Crisper's gathering?
See you soon!
Carol (and Dan and Kodiak)

Congrats and good luck with your offer! I have no doubt you'll be as happy 3 years from now (and longer) as you are today.

Crisper's meets the 3rd Friday of every month 3-5. Hope to see you there!

Everything has gone smoothly for you because moving here was meant to be.:highfive:

We've been here 5 months and, at times, it still feels surreal to us, too. I wake up every morning looking at the fronds of a palm tree! Don't you love that life can still be full of surprises, even at our age? Makes me look forward with joy. :clap2:

Welcome. :welcome: You will love it here.

Hmm.. what exactly is a "kodiak".. I am hoping it is the doggie pic next to your nick.
If you are from CO, I know there is lots of wildlife there, but "kodiaks" ( the big mean furry kind) are not allowed in TV.
If you want to learn more about the "wildlife" in TV, read "Leisureville" or ask .. (hey Shadow.. you wanna volunteer to take this question??)
Enjoy the ride and have a soft landing.

JJ:
this Kodiak is decidedly furry, but not big and mean. :doggie: The dog in the picture is Scrapple (thus the nickname). Here's a picture of a similar dog: http://www.petstew.com/assets/images/dogbreed/american-eskimo-dog-standard.jpg
Come meet us up at Mulberry dog park. We try to get there often to get acquinted with our new neighbors.
