We are purchasing a new home in Citrus Grove :a040: and are wondering if there are any recommendations for pest control, fertilizing and mowing. Thanks in advance!

You need all those items. Good luck finding a landscaper they are in short supply. Might try Massey or Dean’s to start and if you don’t like them find someone else. All landscapers are hired to be fired

We contacted a company that our friends used (found out they will not go south of 44) and they talked us into doing it all ourselves. Payback on the equipment is less than 1.5 years. First mowing took about 15 min, edging maybe 5 min, and blowing 2 min. Pest control using bifenthrin. For fertilizing we will be waiting for the temperatures (under 80 degrees) to drop to use Fertilome.

We just moved to Citrus grove a couple weeks ago and I have decided to do all the things you mentioned myself. As the old saying goes "if you want something done right do it yourself". If you are physically able to do the work yourself you can save a lot of money. I went to Lowes bought a bag of Scotts weed & feed, Spectracide (not sure on the spelling) for killing bugs in the lawn and Spectracide spray in a very easy to use spray for using outside around the home foundation and it can also be used inside your home. The spray is odorless, colorless does not stain, since using the Spectracide the only bugs I have found inside our home have been a few small "Wigs" which were dead nothing else. before using the spray we found those little things all over and very much alive. The total cost of all those products I bought was under $50. Time will tell if I missed my calling and should have been an exterminator, lol. As far as the Scotts weed & feed, I have used that product on our lawn at the house we moved from and IMHO we had the best looking lawn in the community. We got quotes from Massy, Deans and another company whose name I cant remember but they were all very pricey.
As far as landscaping goes, I am considering doing that all myself as well with the exception of adding rock, we need a lot of rock. Whats up with the hay here, mounds and mounds of hay they use in the landscaping?
Good luck with your new home.

Is it hay or pine needles? I think they call it pine straw. My research revealed pine straw will add acid to the soil as it breaks down.

We are closing on a house in Citrus Grove next month, and we are having Chad’s Lawn and Landscaping to mow our yard. I think I spoke to Barbara, and she was very helpful and within one day she had a quote for me.
