This is my first post...just joined last month. We hope to be closing on our property in The Villages later this month.

We will be renting the property for a while before we relocate. I am looking for information regarding a specific rental management company that we inherited for a short time. Not looking for info on other potential rental management companies, or advise on self managing (yet).

If you have used, or are using, White Pelican Home Services to help you manage long or short term rental of your home in The Villages, will you share your experience?

I rejected them quickly before I elected to do my own rental.

I found their website to be clunky and hard to find by Google placement. By phone, they did not wow me with professionalism or polish.

Rentals are not their business, it's closer to a hobby attached to a real estate office.

We rented from white pelican before we bought. Their houses were immaculate.

If they run their property management the way they run their real estate business, I would say stay far away from them.

One conversation with them lead to a no for our friends. Not sure how many is in their program, but the website is not user friendly.

Now, i will say, I talked to them about home watch and cleaning. They were very expensive and decided to not use them.

Always Google and check with BBB. I agree with above person. Google Stiffler and maybe the last company he was involved with, VIR.

If buying new, check your sales/closing contract. There are reports that new addendums that restrict you from renting out that home.

This is to discourage people from buying homes for investment purposes in these booming times. That is in addition to grabbing any profit if owner sells that new home within the first year.

So...read those sales contracts carefully, and even perhaps have a lawyer review it too.

I have dealt with White Pelican the last four years —they do a wonderful job with rentals. They are very responsive to your needs, and are very accommodating to the renters.

Wow!! Two positive reviews from two people with a less than twelve posts to this forum!!!! One with only one post, absolutely a coincidence. Obviously, the court proceedings against White Pelican should be discounted.

Two years ago we contracted with White Pelican to manage our Palo Alto Village home during the snowbird season. They were very professional. Steve was professional, friendly and helpful. Everything worked well. Their communication and cleaning regimen were great. We highly recommend them.
