View Full Version : Pharmacist killed for providing vaccinations

There seems to be a growing trend toward violence surrounding the COVID vaccination and masking.
People assaulting restaurant workers for enforcing the restaurants rules - wear masks to enter. Not a singleton event/
Flight attendants assaulted for enforcing the airlines rules - wear masks. Not a singleton event.
And now a person, anti-vaxer, is accused of killing his brother, a pharmacist, to stop him from giving vaccinations.
So far most of the media has not covered this story, so I can't vouch for it's veracity.
"According to the charging documents filed against Burnham related to the Howard County murders, Burnham told another unnamed person that his brother was “killing people with the COVID shot.”
Maryland man allegedly fatally shot his pharmacist brother for ‘killing people’ with the COVID vaccine, court records show - Baltimore Sun (https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/crime/bs-md-cr-burnham-follow-20211006-srubyenoujenvkd5igalidruwm-story.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+baltimoresun%2Fsports%2Fbal-columnist-frager-rss2+%28Ray+Frager%29)

Covid is the most over used excuse across almost every and any interface of our lives.
No doubt there are some legitimate. However I believe far more are "taking advantage of a crisis".

I will agree he is mentally ill. I will disagree that he is trying to justify his action by making up something. There is no indication of that in the story. I take it at face value, he believes he was doing the right thing. That doesn't make him sane, that doesn't justify it. It is just the simplest explanation.
Words matter, and there are a lot of inflammatory words flying around everywhere over COVID and masks and vaccinations. When that happens on anything fringe elements and mentally ill act on those inflammatory words, often resulting in unfortunate results.
It is why it is not a good thing when a popular person be they a movie star, a politician, or a blogger uses hate and misinformation to incite people - sometimes they succeed.

Very unfortunate but our country has been divided by hate for the last 6 years and I don’t see if getting better anytime soon.
We have become so divided that we just stopped listening.
Fix the hate and it will fix the problem.
I am not mad at anyone for their choice to be vax or not…..because it is not my place to tell you what to do with your life, just like it is not your place to tell me.
It sure would be nice if you can have open conversations with out the hate that has divided us.

I really don't understand. Trump pushed for development of the vaccine and Biden ramped up production and made it widely available. Both should be applauded for their efforts to fight the pandemic. What's political about that? I saw golf carts in TV with signs thanking Mr. Trump for the vaccine.

The idea that Americans "HATE" is ludicrous. The word "hate" is misused and abused. Just because someone does not agree with you does NOT mean that they "hate" anyone. The term "hate" is just used to shut down a discussion. Just like calling someone a racist, of sexist is a means to shut down the conversation.
I am not an "anti-vaxxer" but I do believe in one's right to make a choice regarding their own well being. If they wish to decline the vaccination, so be it. How can anyone judge someone when there is all kinds of stories and studies regarding the dangers of being vaccinated? On the other hand, rushing to be first in line to get the shots when one is in fear should also not be judged.
I have my shots but I doubt (right now) that I will get a booster. And for those that scream that we should do it for other folks, the only person I would consider doing it for is my spouse. I owe no one else, and do not feel responsible for anyone else.
So, quit using the asinine terms like hate, racist, sexist, etc. It does not further a civil discussion.

It is interesting that you never mention anything the organized assaults by antifa and BLM such as the months long assault on the Portland Court house. What about the numerous times they pummeled police with bricks in major cities? They also caused billions of dollars in damages and permanent economic decline in many metro neighborhoods. And then they are bailed out by billionaires and politicians.
Organized violence is the tactic of the left wing and you know it but will never acknowledge it. Do you remember all the riot preparations made on November 3? They were not needed because your guy won. Contrast that to the violence in DC at the 2017 Inauguration.
Controversial posts can some times spark meaningful dialogue and sometimes they are just gas lighting. I wish you could distinguish between the two.

Well, when the government is forcing the vaccine on freedom-loving Americans under penalty of career, job, ability to function in society ... you have to EXPECT that some will respond like this. While that will never be my response to others being vax'd, I do understand the sentiment. If someone came to my door attempting to force the vaccine into MY arm, they will suffer from lead poisoning. What this man did was wrong - it was not self defense. Let's just wait and see how the world looks in the next 12-18 months.
I'm in Maryland at the moment and the story is indeed true. Surprised at this? Not at all. If the government keeps pushing, people will push back. Not everyone will react the same but don't expect meek compliance.

Indeed.
People ARE pushing back, but on an individual level and through court actions. But we'll never read about that, especially in any paper (won't mention any names here) whose idea of presenting national "news" is running AP screeds.

Several things.
1. The government forces vaccinations all the time, that way they save millions of lives - measles, mumps, smallpox, polio, et al. And no one kills their pediatrician.
2. NO I do not expect civilized intelligent American's to kill each other because one of them is trying to help people get protection from a pandemic.
3. Killing your brother because you disagree with their politics. That is your recommendation?
Sounds like advocacy of violence, I assume that is not what you are advocating?

The Federal government is not in the business of mandating vaccines. See below. The vaccinations referred to in Point #1 of the quoted post all refer to STATE-mandated vaccines.
"States have long had the constitutional authority to mandate vaccinations, which the Supreme Court has upheld twice, first in 1905 and then in 1922. The federal government, however, has limited power to mandate vaccines. It can only require them to prevent transmission of a dangerous infectious disease across state lines or international borders. The federal government has never sought to require nationwide vaccinations, and the courts probably would not allow it." (Scientific American, August 5, 2021)
The issue is not the efficacy of the vaccines(s) in question. The issue is Federal government overreach, which in the end will only be settled by the SCOTUS. My guess is that SCOTUS will confirm that it is a states-rights issue and that the Federal government has no business trying to mandate COVID vaccine or any other vaccine for that matter.

Semantics, unless you are suggesting another civil war to resettle the states vs federal authority.
And it would seem you are advocating murdering your brother if you disagree with his politics.
And last, this action was not a states rights protest, the shooter claims to have murdered his brother for trying to help people. There is NO federal mandate to be vaccinated, the closest that comes is the feds suggesting companies do it. The ONLY mandate the feds have put in place is for federal employees.
So, your reply doesn't seem to apply to this shooting, unless your point is that the president suggesting businesses require vaccinations is illegal, and this shooter was exercising his "RIGHTS" by stopping his brother for obeying a non-existent law?

Sadly, one side of our country doesn't believe in science. And I can't get any closer to the truth without another enforced vacation. The good news in that here in TV the majority (85%? - I like that percentage and use it in many contexts :) ) of residents are vaccinated, now if we can just get them to wear masks too, life will be good, birds will sing and smiles will return.

No offense but it is you who needs education. Here is the data from Israel. On the right you have three categories, all with 90% plus risk reduction.
Vaccinated 3 times, recovered not vaccinated, recovered and vaccinated
with little difference in protection. There is very little gained by vaccination after recovery, in fact in the most at risk 60 years plus category they are exactly the same, 97% risk reduction.
91088
The people who need vaccination most are the unvaccinated and fully vacinated more than 6 months ago. You wore a mask to prevent your bacteria from contaminating the patient, not virus protection. Read about aerosoled virus sizes and it is obvious surgical and cloth masks only stop larger globules. 85% of virus expelled from infected is very small aerosols.

You must have a different definition of hate than other folks. Although, I may be biased because I concur with the statement on that sign. However, I do not hate those ignorant enough to be followers rather than leaders. I do not hate the Brits for their tyranny before we declared our independence, and I never hated the Vietnamese during the war(examples). Hate is a strong word and like it was said above, serves only to halt a discussion when one has run out of convincing points.
Maybe my faith has eliminated HATE in my life?

My dad can beat up your dad. My experts and smarter than your experts. Been around and around this tree. It doesn't mater since the common flu is worse anyway.

I do agree, and I had to walk away to avoid a post that would have possibly gotten me awarded a permanent ban - LOL!

It is sad but true. Your comments are spot on IMO

With all do respect, over 700,000 have died from Covid in the US. If wearing a mask and getting vaccinated during the pandemic requires me doing something for the better good and sacrificing a little personal freedom in the process that might save one life - I will do it. We all make choices good, bad or otherwise.

I have no idea what your point is. The data from Israel is not some "expert's opinion". The data in the chart I posted above was based a a very large study of millions of Israeli citizens. Israel keeps very good records and are very transparent. Israel was one of the first countries to start a nationwide vaccine campaign, they experienced the delta wave before us, and ciurrently they have given 3rd booster shots to several million citizens, more than any country so far especially per capita.
Israeli health authorities presented their data to the FDA during their deliberation on booster shots. I can guarantee you that Fauci, CDC heads, etc and probably 90% of the epidemiologists on earth have studied that chart and data very closely.
Israel is the canary in the covid mine.

More to this story than it's known, truth will come out.
If CNN pushes it all week long with the bobbing heads, then it's a......
CNN has not covered it, as far as I know, not at the time of the original post anyway.
So, thanks for bashing CNN, even thought it was/is not involved. Agenda much?
Here's are just a few good reasons why I said what I said about CNN:
- CNN Participated in The Hunter’s Laptop Cover-Up
- Lies about the Covington teen Nick Sandmann just for wearing a red hat.
- Weeks of the big Jussie Smollett hoax.
And let's not forget the downplayed Murder, Riots and Destruction in Cities to Peaceful Demonstrations.
So many, many more I can produce, but will fall under a political topic..

I really don't understand. Trump pushed for development of the vaccine and Biden ramped up production and made it widely available. Both should be applauded for their efforts to fight the pandemic. What's political about that? I saw golf carts in TV with signs thanking Mr. Trump for the vaccine.
He spent close to 8 months denying it even existed - called it a hoax pushed by the opposing Party. "It's going to disappear. One day, it's like a miracle, it will disappear"

Which has nothing to do with this post, but thank you for the comments. I understand you don't trust CNN, neither do with. You have made that abundantly clear in oh, maybe a couple hundred posts?

“Yeah, I stopped the bill that I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach,” he added. (McAuliffe quoit) Biden's Education Secretary Cardona says parents should not be the "primary stakeholder" in their kids' education. I must have heard wrong , "US attorney general directs FBI to investigate parents’ protests of school boards" this kind of talk adds fuel to the political bond fire
