View Full Version : Caution if you use Groome Transportation
Groome has had mixed reviews. Unfortunately I just had a bad experience. I was given a 45 minute window - 3 a.m. to 3:45 a.m. At 3:50 a.m. I called to see what was going on and discovered there is no emergency number. They never showed. I jumped in the car at 4:13 a.m. and drove to the airport and barely made my plane. They said the driver was confused with his schedule. My reason for posting is to caution that if you use Groome ,have a back up plan because there is no way to contact them outside of their business hours.

Did you read my post back in 2020 about them? Also no show, but they charged the fare, which they returned 3 months later. I was told, when I called 30 minutes after they were to show up, that they had no record of me. Fortunately, because hubby had to get back to work on time, I made a back up plan with Capri transportation at the same time I reserved Groome and explained to Capri that I am not sure about Groome, would they pick hubby up to go to the airport immediately if we needed them. Capri said, yes, and they did. I never use anyone other than Capri now.
My neighbor also uses Capri. I will try them next time. We've used Villages Van but two weeks ago it was a very looong trip home.

I also had a bad experience with Groome. I told them I have 2 fractured vertabrae & 2 bad knee and that my husband was 92 yr old and that neither of us could climb up into a van or sit in the rear seats of a van...I asked them if they had a regular car. They said they had a station wagon type car. I told them we couldn't climb in back, that we would need to sit right in the first row in back of the driver. They said...no problem, that they would instruct the driver. When they arrived, in a large Van, the first 2 back seats were occupied, they told us to get in the 3rd row of seats. I told the driver that wasn't impossible. I told the driver that they had promised a car that we could climb into, that we couldn't possibly climb in the back. The driver said he didn't have any knowledge that I had contacted Groome and that had promised a car we could get into. The 2 ladies in the first seat behind driver, got a little agitated, thinking we were after their seats. I told them "no", Gloome was at fault and we would just cancel our trip to the airport and get someone else. After several minutes of arguing with the driver, one lady, got a little huffy and abruptly got out of her seat and climbed in the back and the other lady joined her. I felt really badly, that they took it the wrong way.... We really appreciated they ladies moving and told them so, but I'm sure they had bad feelings. I immediately contacted Groome and was told they had no knowledge of me calling and them promising us a car.

No apology from Groome
My point in posting was to let folks know there is no emergency number if they fail to pick up outside their business hours.
