I have no idea? Wife pays $80 to current hair dresser here in NJ. In my world, "fair" is what the market dictates/supports. So fair is a function of what the invisible hand of the market sets the price.

I am from NJ and in TV I pay about $110. Bella's Deborah Hale is very good. A number of places are a lot more.

Cut and high/low lights up north is $150 plus tip. We haven’t found anyone in TV we are happy with since 2010. Since we travel north few times a year, trip to salon is always planned in advance

Everything is going up of late, as you all know. I have been going to Hair Cuttery in Mulberry Grove for almost 3 years (since we moved down here full time). Paid ~ $72 for cut and color for quite a while, now it is a tad over $100 (plus tip). The chain went bankrupt and was bought by someone else, so that might be part of the reason. I paid $65-70 at the Jersey Shore before we moved here full time.

I have Crystal at cutters cove cut my hair. I have very thin hair and she is the only stylist that has ever given my hair volume in the 9 years of living here. 205-7936 good luck

Debby's Hair Loft in Coleman. Has been in the same location for over 25 years. The girls there do excellent work at reasonable prices and are very convenient to residents south of SR 44.

Enjoy!

I use Cathy Dubois at Cal’s Brownwood. She charges $97 for a full head heavy highlight for long hair. Short hair is less. I used to pay $250 in Northern Virginia.

During lock-down I started doing my wife's color, and I got quite good at it.
So much so, she now refuses to pay a hairdresser to do it.
Which is all well and good, apart from the fact she doesn't tip!:icon_wink:

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like quite a few Jersey Shore people. We are from the Jersey Shore (Exit 82). Wife and I are Toms River people. Now, we will be at the Jersey Shore for 6 months and TV for 6 months.

Fantastic Sam Christine way. $80 ish. Only auburn dye that doesn't turn to strawberry blond in 3 wks. Jaylee has always been most expensive.

I went to Bella's. Was quoted $150 but was charged $200! It was one color which was not good at all and the hair cut was just a trim and terrible job at that!

I paid a pretty penny for a cut and color up north, and while probably not for everyone, I have been going to Tenaj, the local beauty college in The Villages. I have been very happy with the products used and quality of the cut and color. The students are constantly tutored and the instructors seem to know what they’re doing. And the price is right! $49!!

Her hair dresser up north, should give your wife, the combo she use's to color her hair, so she can give it to her next hair dresser , while she is down here. That is NORMAL PROCEEDURE FOR HAIR DRESSERS TO DO. As for good hair cut, most are very very good and she should have no problem no matter where she chooses.

I didn’t think one color dyed hair was still a thing. I see lots of highlights, and natural with shiny toners. Either way cheap is never a good look

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Cheap? Or just less expensive? Lots of folks spend a lot of money to have the illusion that what they bought is somehow better than the less expensive option. You don't always get what you paid for.
Just so long as you are happy with the result, that is all that truly matters.

kathy LOL, my wife would drive 90+ miles from N Jersey to S. Jersey (Marlton) every 6 weeks for her $180 + tip hair dresser (and NO, we really couldn't afford it but happy wife, happy life). She says "hairdressers are like Groin-a-cologists, you gotta find one who has good hands." Since we moved down here about 4 yrs ago it has been h3ll with her hair. If I could afford it I'd send her up north every 6 weeks to make her happy but she has to suffer with the $140 one here who all she does is complain about. I told her to just go to Cal's and get the $17 "Villages Ladies Cut" that probably half the women have here but she threatened to leave me. :1rotfl:

When we moved from the Shore to the western suburbs of Philly I continued to drive to Lanoka Harbor every 4 weeks to get my hair cut and colored for ten years (until we moved to FL full-time). Almost a two hour drive each way but worth it. Plus I got to have dinner at my fave Shore restaurant. Hubby thought I was crazy but ... :)
