Americans Vaccinated Against Coronavirus Have Lower Mortality Rates — Even From Non-Covid Causes — CDC Says (https://www.forbes.com/sites/joewalsh/2021/10/22/americans-vaccinated-against-coronavirus-have-lower-mortality-rates---even-from-non-covid-causes---cdc-says/amp/)
People who are vaccinated against Covid-19 are less likely to die for any reason — including from non-coronavirus causes — than the unvaccinated, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study released Friday, which researchers framed as more proof of the vaccines’ safety despite stubborn levels of vaccine hesitancy.
KEY FACTS
Partially and fully vaccinated people died from non-coronavirus causes at a lower rate than their unvaccinated peers, according to the study, which looked at millions of patients at seven U.S. health organizations from December to July.
All three vaccines approved by U.S. regulators were tied to lower non-Covid death rates, though the difference in mortality among people who took Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine was slightly smaller than for recipients of Pfizer or Moderna’s vaccines.
Vaccinated members of virtually every racial and age group had lower non-coronavirus mortality rates than unvaccinated people, but the difference was smallest for children ages 12 to 17, possibly because the study looked at just a dozen deaths in that group.
This result suggests the vaccines don’t increase a patient’s risk of death, which “reinforces the safety profile of currently approved COVID-19 vaccines,” the study said.
Vaccines could be tied to lower non-Covid death rates because people who got vaccinated are “inherently healthier or engage in fewer risk behaviors,” or because some deaths caused by the coronavirus weren’t properly classified, the authors wrote.
Another CDC study from last month showed fully vaccinated Americans are also significantly less likely to die from Covid-19 than the unvaccinated.
CONTRA
The study’s results were adjusted for race, age and sex, but didn’t factor in other characteristics like underlying health conditions or socioeconomic status. Still, the researchers said their study is reliable because it covers a large and diverse population.

23%. That’s the share of U.S. adults who told the Kaiser Family Foundation last month they either definitely won’t take a Covid-19 vaccine, will only get vaccinated if it’s mandatory, or are taking a “wait and see” approach to their vaccination status. Levels of vaccine hesitancy have dropped steadily this year, and 77.5% of Americans ages 12 and over are now partially or fully vaccinated, but tens of millions of eligible people have still not gotten a jab.
KEY BACKGROUND
All three Covid-19 vaccines approved in the United States were found to be safe in clinical trials, and real-world studies have backed up their safety and effectiveness. The CDC says reports of side effects from the vaccines — including severe allergic reactions, blood clots and a heart condition called myocarditis — are rare. Plus, studies have indicated the vaccines are extremely effective at staving off hospitalizations and deaths from Covid-19. Still, many unvaccinated Americans have told pollsters they’re wary about the vaccines’ safety or skeptical of their effectiveness, and some public health officials believe patients could be deterred by false rumors about the vaccines that have proliferated on social media.

Great, there won’t be preowned homes on the market for the next 50 years. Developers will have to continue to build new, because TV will have the largest crypt keepers population in the US.

Information from the CDC? Hmm, is that with two or three shots of the vaccination? Is that mixing the vaccines, or receiving only one brand? Kind of hard to take it seriously IF the CDC gives us conflicting information one day after the other.
"Fully vaccinated with two shots or is it three shots?" Just wait a day and they will change it to fit their needs. Booster every six months forever? Who knows?
Interesting article, but I will take the word of the CDC with a grain of salt, as some like to say.

OP’s information from the CDC didn’t say you would never die but just you “might” live longer. Of course, the unvaccinated don’t want to hear this and when they do won’t believe it anyway. No different than the approximate 20% that refuse to wear a seat belt. “You can’t stay young forever but you can be immature for the rest of your life.” Anonymous

CDC? Really? Have they told the American public anything factual? Reports out of the UK this weekend show 70% of all CV cases are in the vaccinated and the same goes for hospitalizations and they are not the only highly vaxxed country reporting thiese types of percentages. Also, another report just out shows that your natural immunity decreases when you get the vax. Thanks, but no thanks!

Please don't post misinformation on such a serious subject, there is nothing "factual" in that post. And I can find an internet source that states the Earth is flat, so don't bother to argue.

Really? It's either time to get off CNN or stay in your basement in fear.
Here's the UK report on the vax lowering your natural antibodies (Pg. 23) and I quote" “N antibody levels appear to be lower in people who acquire infection following two doses of vaccination.”

Also, from the same UK health report this weekend: Deaths in September 2021 in UK: Over 80 was 1500 total of which 1270 were vaxxed (85%). Over 70, 800 total deaths of which 607 were fully vaxxed (76%); Over 60 there were 411 total deaths with 258 of those fully vaxxed (63%). The facts are there, you only have to do some research to find the truth. Unfortunately, here, the CDC doesn't want you to know those figures so they have no requirement to track them. But whatever, you do, please do not question what are facts and what is not if you only listen to the CDC and CNN.

Thank you for the information. While I can provide reasons as to why the percentage may be higher among the vaccinated in those age groups, what the post does undoubtedly show is that there are studies and figures coming down on both sides of the discussion.

Which is harder to understand:
1. The vaccine is not 100% effective, particularly for the elderly or immunocompromised;
2. When over 90% of the population is vaccinated, cases in the vaccinated group will be a larger percentage of the total (there are nearly 10x fewer unvaccinated to become infected), or;
3. Antibodies that result from fighting off an infection will have less time to develop if your body already has antibodies (from the vaccine) doing the fighting?

UK health authorities are now calling it "pandemic of the old and fully vaccinated"
CDC now calling it "pandemic of the unvaccinated except for those pesky 25% breakthrough cases"

Delta is 4-10 times more infectious so now 85-95%% of the population needs antibodies for herd Immunity.
Delta added a lot of natural immunity to the population. Maybe we are close given how rapidly infection/hospitalizations are dropping.
Thanks mostly to those with enough courage to take some risk and be Vaccinated.
The unvacinated should be thankful for those who took the shot rather than reiterate ignorant and intentionally obtuse misinformation and conspiracy theories.

Herd immunity refers to the entire population, not just people over 12.
If over 70% of ALL people in the USA are immunized, then the other 30% will have a better shot at protection from herd immunity.
Right now, the total population of the USA is not 70% immunized, because there is a big honkin chunk of children who are not eligible to be immunized COMBINED with the 22.5% of people over 12 who are also not immunized.

What blatant propaganda! All of it. And if vaccine hesitancy was waning and only a quarter of eligible people were unvaccinated, the government wouldn't be issuing vaccine mandates.

I am amazed at the resistance of many of the unvaccinated to scientific facts. I had a friend die recently. His wife, who was vaccinated, tried to get him to have a shot. She even had a doctor speak to him to no avail. He believed that the vaccines would alter his DNA! He got Covid. He was then hospitalized and died a few weeks later gasping for breath. The first American to require a vaccination was George Washington. Small pox was threatening his army. The British soldiers were mostly vaccinated so General Washington ordered his troop to get inoculated. Let’s not forget the polio vaccine we all got. We lined up and drank whatever they put in that cup. The internet has degraded intelligent argument and decision making.

Just to clarify, the military still mandates vaccinations. Washington did NOT mandate vaccinations for the whole country, just the military. I am vaccinated for covid, but I do NOT believe in mandates. Right or wrong, a person should have the right to his own choice regarding what medical treatment he/she wishes. If the gov wishes to restrict unvaxxed movement, that is another subject, but I do not believe in forcing someone to stay alive if they wish to die.

You do have the right to whatever medical treatment he/she wishes, within reason (you don't have the right to demand that a licensed medical facility give you intravenous urine treatment for glaucoma, for example).
The government, as an employer, also has the right not to have employees who refuse to abide by their rules and regulations.
And private businesses also have the right to not allow you into their buildings, if you don't abide by their rules and regulations.
No shoes, no shirt, no service. No mask, no service. If everyone had been masking up as soon as the CDC said "yeah let's just make this a thing" we might not have needed vaccines. We'll never know though, because peoples' "freedoms" were more important than public health.
And so now, here we are. With you having your right to not vaccinate, and me having the right to kick you out of my store. Choices have consequences and rights come with responsibilities.

Not pro or con on any of the vaccination "stuff", it was right for me, but definitely not a "one size fits all" thing ! The one thing everyone's antenna should go up on, ANY TIME, from a car ad to a medication ad, is the words...." according to a study........." Might be true, complications are "rare", what IS "rare" actually. I had to calculate my own risk tolerance. Some of our children made a different decision based on their circumstances. NONE of us are "protected" and none of us are now unable to spread it, so to pound on my family and friends to do what I did, not worth it. What if one day the ones who chose to not get the vaccination prove to have made the wisest decision ? Maybe I will regret I did do it, maybe I will regret the one I chose, only time will tell.... Keep in mind the drip, drip, drip... Face's adamant denial the USA had anything to do with this horrific development, then drip, drip, drip for months, the the bomb shell yesterday. Same with the Laundrie "incident" down in North Point, Fl, same now with he tragic death on the set of the movie.... each day since, drip, drip, drip, new details. I made a choice to "do it", will never try to bully others to because there is always the chance I was wrong ! ! Humility is a lost "art", as is "respect" for the decisions of others. I do not view my unvaxed family members as "threats", any more than I view "suspicious" looking individuals in a store, as a personal threat to me. Life IS A RISK it's a risk to walk across a 4 lane road, it's a risk to be in public, you CAN get killed slipping and falling on a wet parking lot, you CAN get hepatitis by eating out, you can get flu even with "flu" shots, we all should, but won't, stop, THINK, and allow people to make choices best for them. We each can not parents every living adult. My personal choice, I would LOVE to stop every person in the world around me from smoking, but I would rather life in a democratic republic and "adjust" to the fact that others think and chose differently. I KNOW my government can't cover every possible risk for me by making more and more, and MORE laws !

I say it is part of the same subject. No one is forcing anyone to be vaccinated. You're not being strapped down and a needle inserted into your skin against your will.
The issue that people are against, are the mandated consequences of choosing not to vaccinate.
You don't have to vaccinate. However, if you refuse, you can't work for the government. You have the right to not work for the government, and remain unvaccinated.

The whole pandemic was politicized right from the beginning, and science was the loser for it.
Keep on banging the same old drums does nothing to sort the issue either.
The only thing that is positive, is that you have more chance of surviving Covid as an oldie with the vaccine, than without it.

And just last week, our CDC reported thousands of deaths within 48 hrs. of any COVID vax. Reporting to VAERS is voluntary, and tedious, and it's clear that most injuries and deaths do not get reported. Russian Roulette?? Personally, I believe that 23% is an incorrect and low number. Why would medical personnel risk being fired over their vax refusal?

Might be true, complications are "rare", what IS "rare" actually.

Things have changed, due to both vaccination and natural immunity
Infection/hospitalization rates are way down.
Death rates have returned to normal.
Maybe time to respect individual choices, as with the flu.

And just last week, our CDC reported thousands of deaths within 48 hrs. of any COVID vax.
Would you be so kind as to provide a link for that statement? My google seems to not be able to find any such report just last week, or at any time. Thousands of deaths within 48 hours???? You've got evidence for that statement, surely you wouldn't post an untruth here.

Red Cross is reporting 90%+ of doaners have antibodies.
Maybe time to respect individual choices, as with the flu.
The Red Cross stopped routine testing for Covid in its donor samples in June (https://www.redcrossblood.org/donate-blood/dlp/covid-19-antibody-testing.html). Do you have a link for your statement that they are reporting 90% now? If it were true it would be meaningless unless you also tell me what percent of donors report they have received at least one vaccination. I suspect, but do not know, that the kind of person who donates blood to a stranger, concerned with the health of others, might also be the kind of person who would get a shot to protect the community.
EDIT
Oh look, Robbie has removed that claim from his posting. Well, that's at least something. It would be better, IMO, to have come back and said he hasn't got a link, or he heard it from a guy at a bar or whatever.

I donate blood but I did not get the vaccination to "protect the community." The community is not my responsibility, regardless of what some folks believe.

"Findings In this repeated cross-sectional study that included 1 443 519 blood donation specimens from a catchment area representing 74% of the US population, estimated SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence weighted for differences between the study sample and general population increased from 3.5% in July 2020 to 20.2% for infection-induced antibodies and 83.3% for combined infection- and vaccine-induced antibodies in May 2021. Seroprevalence differed by age, race and ethnicity, and geographic region of residence, but these differences changed over the course of the study."

Of course he can't, unless it is some bogus anti-vax site. But of course there are thousands of deaths within 48 hours of vaccination, or any other event for that matter---there are thousands of death within 48 hours of a Tampa Bay football game. They're from heart disease, cancer, auto accidents, renal failure, suicide etc, but have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE VACCINES

Please don't hold your breath. Highly unlikely it is directly from the CDC. Probably a second hand report from either:
1) an anti-vaxxer with an agenda
2) some imbecile who had no idea what they were reading and repeated it, or
3) the imbecile is.......oops, can't finish that without breaking a rule:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Thank you for that link which has data up to May. As I wrote above the Red Cross stopped routine testing in June [although they are continuing some testing for future publication]. Regarding my supposition that donors may not represent the general population, this study in its limitations says:
vaccine-induced seroprevalence might be higher in blood donors than in the general population. For May 2021, among donations from donors with a known vaccine history, 73.3% were from donors who self-reported receiving a previous COVID-19 vaccine, compared with CDC estimates that 57.0% of US adults aged 18 years and older had received 1 dose or more of vaccine by May 2021

Understood.
Seroprevalence likely increased further since that study due to Delta + vaccinations
Risk for now seems no worse than from the flu.
We may be doing more harm than good forcing vaccinations at this point.

Stay safe. Covid is real and as we start to gather with family and friends indoors again, try to protect yourself and others best you can but enjoy your time as the years pass way too fast.
I'm praying for a friend who attended a Thanksgiving gathering in Missouri and by the Monday after Thanksgiving 9 attendees have come down with Covid.
6 unvaccinated and 3 vaccinated. I'm told the 3 vaccinated have only experienced very light symptoms.
There are 3 unvaccinated under treatment with lingering symptoms. One hospitalized yesterday.
This isn't a get vaccinated, or not statement, but a please be careful all.

Perhaps people are looking a little too far into this. Could the answer simply be that the people that choose to get vaccinated are just smarter and not as likely to take stupid risks?

There is a dating term out there now -- Darwining -- a refusal to date someone who does not believe in science.

CDC?
What vaccine was Uk using the China version?

Really? It's either time to get off CNN or stay in your basement in fear.
Here's the UK report on the vax lowering your natural antibodies (Pg. 23) and I quote" “N antibody levels appear to be lower in people who acquire infection following two doses of vaccination.”
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1027511/Vaccine-surveillance-report-week-42.pdf
Just wondering, do you think the CDC is making money off the vaccinations? Or … ?

You have no idea who you are talking to and no idea how foolish you are making yourself look. I have no intention of debating with another amateur or "Dr. Google", but I will say this: I know about 1000 times as much virology and epidemiology as you do, and the professionals at CDC know more than I do. This means, as far as the pecking order of pandemic knowledge goes, you are on that part of the totem pole that is buried in the ground. STOP MISLEADING PEOPLE WITH YOUR BOGUS "FACTS"

Not yet. Experimental mRNA vaccines for Covid 19 like Pfizer, Moderna have only been used for 1 year. NOBODY knows what long term effects may or may not take place in the future.
