Why didn’t you ask the salesperson?

Not really Homeowners Associations as you might know them. More like clubs with bias.

Why didn’t you ask the salesperson?after he said $50 off the one and only response would be from just about everyone, what is the VHA ?makes me wonder if this post was supposed to go somewhere else

When the salesman told me of the discount, my response was, what’s the VHA. He said he didn’t know. I looked at the VHA website and I still don’t know what it is, other than a place to learn what is happening around TV.

The sales person couldn’t tell you what VHA is?

The POA (Property Owners’ Association) is an excellent source to glean info on what goes on behind the curtain, as well as being an advocate for homeowners - not the developer.

It would have made sense for you to ask the salesperson who told you to join!

If you look behind the curtain, you will certainly find out that everyone here either Pro or con the developer, but since they bought here already oh, it doesn't matter what your opinion is, all that matters is money

You will find that there are many opinions pro and con towards a great developer, but what drives every decision is money, and what they said about General Motors in the 50s and 60s is the old adage, what is good for General Motors he's good for the country. Same goes for great developer so I would have to say is 99% true . The complaints are mostly minor and the benefits are wonderful living here as we've had great development of retail jobs and money Getting stuffed into Sumter County Lake and Marion

In around 2000 it was determined the Paradise CC in the Old Section of the Villages was falling apart, had mice in the walls, etc etc. When the Developer was approached to fix the terrible conditions it is alleged the Developer said there was no money to repair or replace portions of the building and property. When the POA which was also in existence at that time was approached to get involved they allegedly also contacted the Developer to do something and when he/she refused the POA demonstrated in front of a Sales Office and 4 of the POA Officers contributed some of their own personal funds to sue the Developer to get it fixed. The Developer lost and about $40 million was awarded to fix the property and the Judge also awarded about $50K to each of the 4 POA Officers who contributed personal funds for the lawsuit. As a result of this and the alleged obvious Developer dislike of the POA for picking up the flag to fix the Paradise CC the HOA (Home Owners Association) was formed for the Developer. The POA's objective or mission continues to support the residence and carry their banner for them when it is needed. The HOA is allegedly a support of the Developer and his wants and needs. The POA board is made up of volunteers from The Villages. This is allegedly some of the background on both organizations. :ho:

This is not accurate. To start with both organization started well before 2000. The Villages Homeowners Advocate s is the full name. We work with ALL of our partners not as adversaries but as partners to solve problems and address issues. Come to a VHA Newcomers meeting and learn what the VHA is all about.
