Village of Hemingway

We are considering making an offer on a home in Hemingway. Just wondering if there are positives or negatives. Seems to be at southern end, but pretty close to new Town Center, Brownwood. Your thoughts, please.

I think that is a good idea, army!

Hemingway is right in the middle of things. It is close to run to Colony Plaza for groceries, restaurants:icon_hungry: and gas and you can take any of the three major arteries, Morse, Buena Vista or Canal to go North or South. It is very close to Hadley and we love living in Hadley. :coolsmiley:

Plus, everyone who I know who lives there, just loves it. I can't think of a negative at all.

It's a very nice village. The reality is soon there will be no "perfect" location -- you'll be a good distance from one town square and shopping area or another. The advantage to Hemingway, Hadley, Duval, Bonita, Amelia is you'll ultimately be between two town squares, not walking distance to either, but close enough to use your golf cart quite easily.

To me, location isn't the big factor in where you live in TV, it is finding the right house for you -- garage size, view or no view, lanai location, old growth vs. new growth, etc. That's really much more important, IMO.

:thumbup: When we first moved to Hemingway we were a little concerned about location. (We lived in Virginia Trace when we first moved here, right next to Sumter Landing.) We were pleasantly surprised at how quickly we adapted and really enjoy the location, neighbors, etc.

So I say - go for it!!!!

We live in Hadley and loved it, but could not find a resale that met our garage envy. (We live in a CYV). So now we will be moving to Hemingway and because of its location near Colony Plaza, it is a perfect location.

Hemingway is nice in that it is close to Colony, and there seem to be a lot of active neighborhood groups for golfing and other activites. The only thing that would give me pause, being a golfer, is the location. You would be at one end of the Villages (similiar to living at one end near Lopez on the other end). You'd have 3 golf courses within easy reach - Havana, Cane, Mallory, and in a few years the new one they are building, but it is quite a drive to reach the other ones, like Hacienda, Orange Blossom, Glenview and Lopez. Not saying it can't be done, but you're adding another 10 or 15 minute golf cart drive over people who live in a more central location. Same for other activities should you choose to participate in them, that might be taking place at Laurel Manor, Mulberry, or other places. We have many friends who bought in Hemingway, and they do make the longer drive to these places, but just thought you might want to be made aware, its not quite as convenient as a more centrally located place.

I live in the newest section of Hemingway and I love it now that the heavy construction is done. I've found everything I need in nearby rec centers (Colony, Seabreeze, Lake Miona) so I seldom have to venture farther. I'm only about 6 minutes from Lake Sumter Landing, a little further from Spanish Springs. And the new library when it opens will be very convenient.
Don't forget that once all the new stuff south of 466A is in place, Hemingway will be much more central than most of the older villages.

Thanks for all the responses. Sees like most all is positive. Hope to complete things ASAP. Only problem is house to sell in Naples. Keeping our fingers crossed.
