We were down the last 2 weeks of October and had temps in the 80’s. Cold weather is no fun.

Cold is a relative term.
I prefer "bracing".

next time around I'm coming back as a weather forecaster....
if you forecast lousy weather and it turns out great, everyone is happy
if you forecast lousy weather and it is lousy...they just say, we'll he said this was what was going to happen
if you forecast great weather and it turns out lousy...they say, well even the experts can't get it right all the time
if what you forecast turns out to be what happens....you're a hero
if you're the regular guy, and you're on vacation....everyone says they can't wait for you to come back
just saying

We've had colder weather than So. Cal. where we just came from. But the sun is still shining most of the time.

You are far from alone, in that a lot of people are easily confused between the terms 'weather' and 'climate.'
What is the difference between weather and climate change? (https://www.usgs.gov/faqs/what-difference-between-weather-and-climate-change-1?qt-news_science_products=0#qt-news_science_products)

I enjoy some cold weather once in awhile, the one season I do miss being down here is autumn. I also have a lot of long sleeve shirts that don't get out very often.
