Our GE dishwasher 'Nautilus" model seems to have gone on the fritz. It came with the CYV and we don't know if it is worth repairing or should be replaced. It says the cycle is on but there is no water going in and no action taking place. I remember something about GE appliances that came with the houses were often problems. Has anyone had similar experiences with their dishwasher. The CYV was hit in the '97 tornado and rebuilt so the appliance is fairly new. BTW the icemaker on the Whirlpool side by side also seems defective.
Can anyone recommend a good repairman if I need to have both appliances attended to? Thanks for any suggestions.

first thing i would recommend is to unplug it for 3 minutes then plug it back in (can also turn off the circuit breaker in the garage) this will reset the computer in the DW....gn

There is a coupon in the Sun for a free service call from a repair Co. Also a discount on the repairs. I don't remember the name of the Co. but a search of TOTV will find it. I will repost if I find it.
Found it. ABC Fredricks

We had a problem with the GE dishwasher in our first house here. You would press the start button and it seemed nothing would happen. Then you would press it again and it would sound like it was working but no water. We finally figured out that we had to be patient when we first pressed the start button, for some reason there was a delay before it actually started. If we accidently pushed it twice it would freeze up and not work. We would open the door, leave it alone for about 15 minutes, then it would work again. Good luck. Call GE repair and complain, maybe they'll give you some free advice on the phone.

If you have not used the washer for a period of time try pouring a cup of vinegar down the sump(drain). It may take a couple of days to loosen the seals up.We had the same problem two years back and our GE dishwasher is still running. You can also take off the kick plate(Bottom)and reach in an free up the impeller by hand.I would recommend that you shut off the circuit breaker if you do.If you leave for any long period of time(months)pour a half cup of mineral oil down the sump to keep the seals from sticking.

The tornado that hit the Villages wasn't in 1997. Don't remember exactly what year it was but I have been here since 2000 and know it was much later than that. My point is - have you tried calling the Warranty Department and see if it might still be under warranty? If its not (as far as The Villages are concerned) you might check with GE and see what kind of warranty you might have. If there is no warranty, then they can probably also give you the information for repairmen for your model. Just a suggestion.

Dishwashers with computer and electronics...I took great joy in ripping out one that I installed (it had all those fancy electronics. Darn thing lasted just long enough to make the 3 year warranty then all kinds of problems arose.
Wasn't worth a service call as I knew what I was dealing with. Computers and electronics in high humidity and heat just don't mix...take it out and go to a simple and basic dishwasher that uses an analog timer and manual push button switches.
My basic dishwasher has been working super for the past 9 years.

I called the Village refridgerator repairman. He came in less than an hour and had it up and running in less than an hour. Told me he can take care of all appliances.
