The sign is finally up and the construction progresses on the new DQ at the intersection of 301 and 472/Rainey Trail.
And the installation of a traffic light at that intersection is almost completed.
PLEASE support you local DQ!!!

Under construction.
Looks like just finishing up enclosing with plywood.
My guess it will open early 2022.

The first year we were in Florida, I was amazed on the lack of places to get a ice cream cone with all the hot weather Florida has.
Since we been down here Culvers open up, now Dairy Queen is coming.

What I remain amazed at is two prior DQ locations in TV closed down. One on 441 and one on 466.
Since the stores are all independently owned there was no information available from DQ headquarters.
Let's hope the new location has owners who are tuned into the needs of TV and nearby residents.

Yeah I was going to mention that too. There were two DQs around us that went belly up years ago. Don't know why this is going to be any different but hope they can pull it off. There have been plenty of nights when we have wanted to go out just for an ice cream.

Last time we had a DQ within 20 miles of us was the early 70s, and only remember going once for a school function. They closed shortly after.
So I have mixed feelings about going after 50 years. Could be good, could be bad. We make our own ice cream, gelato, and yogurt with little fuss. DQ might be something to give a try once.

Try the DQ on 441 in Leesburg on 14th St......it's pretty busy in the drive thru but a relatively new store.

The Culvers on 466 used to be the site of one of the two DQs in the Villages that closed. The other was on 441 near the hospital. I guess the people on here requesting DQ weren't here when those two were open. Hopefully this new DQ will last.

Homemade ice cream is really hard to beat. D Q is soft serve. Different animal, so to speak. Still, something kind of wonderful happens when the mixing of ingredients begins. My personal favorite is the banana split Blizzard. Hard to beat on a hot day, or any day. Everybody who likes D Q has a favorite. I'm sure DW and I will be regulars, much to the distress of our doctors.

New DQs elsewhere are great, now we can only hope they will be same down here.

My favorite.
Mine is chocolate-dipped chocolate soft-serve with multi-colored sprinkles.
Also if they do the grill/brazier, I really love going for the chili cheese dog with fries, as an occasional supper.
I love Kilwin's ice cream. But that's insanely expensive.
I also love Publix Chocolate Trinity ice cream. But that requires that you wash dishes, and take up freezer space. Plus you can't just go to Publix for a single scoop of the stuff. You have to buy a quart or a half gallon. I can't portion-control my own ice cream!
So a soft-serve from DQ is going to be a marvelous occasional and AFFORDABLE treat.

We use to have 2 DQ’s here in the Villages. They did not do well and ended up going out of business. One was where Culver’s is now, don’t remember where the other one was but think it was near Denny’s on 441. Hope this one does better.

Personally, I find DQ just "meh.."
Scooples in Brownwood is good and Mystic Ice Cream (on 466A), just East of TV is wonderful. Their "adult" flavors are excellent!

I'll take Carvel over DQ anytime. Aside from them being "real" ice-cream Fudgie the Whale and Cookie Puss cakes were to die for :D :D but alak and alas there are barely any left because Tom passed on and family sold out to a money group who also owns Auntie Anne's, Cinnabon, Moe's Southwest Grill, McAlister's Deli and a few others. Taste the 2 side by side and you'd know what I mean. DQ has a very "foamy" or "marshmellowy" texture vs. custard like Carvel. But Blizzards are good!

I have them do a Pecan Buster Parfait. It is not on the menu but they are always accommodating.
