It doesn't have anything to do with "not being good enough," Everyone is welcome to play golf. I think the OP is encouraging people to play from the proper tees.
When people play from tees that are beyond their ability they typically take more strokes and can slow the pace of play. If that means that they are falling behind then they slow the pace of all golfers behind them.
That's why there are different tees. So people can play from the one that best fits their ability.

GO TO GOOD GOLF SCHOOL... A lot of the "golfers" feel like they want to "get their money's worth" and play the back tees on the execs... And the Ambassadors really can't tell you to play faster. Have known some that have gotten in trouble for suggesting golfers pick up the pace if they were a couple of holes behind the group in front of them.

I don't care if they hit their drivers only 80 yards as long as they move quickly and play ready golf. Very few people of any skill level play ready golf in The Villages

I tend to see the same problems here that I did back home and on most courses. I would just call it lack of etiquette. I am surprised at the number of ball marks people don't fix on the greens. People walking across other peoples lines on the green, one guy walking around the hole to pick us his ball even though the rest of the group hadn't putted yet (Ok to get the ball but don't walk on my line). People unaware of where to park their cart when they are putting on the green (should be past the green towards the next hole). Mark your score card on the tee box of the next hole, not at the green.

Enjoy the day, play from the tee's you choose but be aware that you have others in your group and you have groups behind you. Keep an extra ball in your pocket so you don't have to go back to your bag to retee the ball or replace the one you could not find (they will make more, and you might find more while looking for yours...) Complement the other good shots in the group and don't give shot or club advice unless asked. Now do I have to say don't talk about politics and religion.....

I agree with you also. And if you dont hit the green with your 1st shot, no prob, you can still par! It's called chipping. big part of golfing. Then putt it in for par. There is no prob at all with this. It is, IMHO, no ones right to suggest that you must move up to the next tee box so you eliminate chipping.

I play the white championship tees and only hit my drives about 180 yds. I play with guys that are around 70 years old. (22 years younger than I) I hit my shot straight down the middle while they spray their 200 yard drives all over the place. My second shot is also down the middle and still not on the green while theirs is left, right, or occasionally down the middle on the green. My wedge shots are very accurate and on the green within 10 feet of the hole. I will normally par 3 or 4 holes and bogey the rest of them. Am I playing the wrong tees. No. I enjoy the challenge playing the whites. I am not out to pay for a championship course and play a pitch and put course. I think everyone should play the tees he likes to play providing he keeps up and doesn't hold anyone up behind him. I play championship every day and I would be absolutely bored playing the green teens. I have played with golfers who hit their drives 200 yards and play the greens. If that is what they like God Bless Them. Everyone has to do their thing as long as they don't ruin someone else's game. You know you are correct. But for example, imagine paying the fee to drive your classic car on the Indy 500 course but are told you have to drive from mile 400 on because your classic Mercedes doesn't "measure up".
You want to drive/play the whole course, not some pared down part of the course.
Is that understandable?

A lot of folks are not able to par every hole. I'm one of them. But I am ready for my turn and try to keep moving and try not to waste time.
To me the poor players who keep moving are less of a delay than the group's who seem like they are having a chat/gossip session while they happen to be on a golf course. Golf is just a place to gather and hang out.
But, even then, I sit in the sun, take a deep breath, thank my lucky stars I'm still alive, then get ready for my turn once the group moves out.

One thing I would add. If you are playing a par 4 or 5, you don't have to wait for the group in front of you to get off the green before hitting. Usually, once they have hit their second shot and moved on, you are good to go.

well sometimes the guy playing FAST is the problem. Some players play for enjoyment not to see how quickly they can get back to the clubhouse. Pushing the pace is just as wrong as slowing it

Fast is not a problem: If he is ahead of you, you won't see him. If he is behind you, he has to wait. If he hits into you, tell the ambassador. Slow is the problem, and at all levels of golf. Bryson DeChambeau and Jordan Spieth are notoriously slow touring pros. Some golfers in the Villages (and elsewhere) emulate them (like they're going to shoot a 59:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:). Yesterday, the group ahead of us was 2 holes behind. When the ambassador came by on the 18th hole he asked how the round was---answer, it was fine. It was better for the group ahead of us who never waited for a single shot, even though we waited on every tee and every approach shot. Still played in 2 minutes less than the card time.

I find it annoying……..

When a thread is started with a teaser, to get people to open it up who otherwise wouldn’t if they knew what they would find inside. It is especially annoying when you learn the thread is another of many rants complaining about an experience at one of the executive golf courses.

Ithat I play with men and women who play the black/gold tees on the executive courses. They rarely reach the par 3 greens in one and yet they say it's too easy from the greens or golds.

If I dare ask them why they...to a person...say it's more of a challenge. Ohhh kaaay.

It's about fun! So tuck your ego into a dark recess of your golf bag and play the tees where at times you hit 5 out of 9 greens in regulation...then move back. if you find you only hit one or two from there then move back to the greens.

Not only will you have more fun, but you'll learn more. If you think it's about hitting longer clubs because it's more challenging then...nope...check that ego back into the bag. It's about the swing...only the swing. The score will come if you are able. if not then stick to the tees where you hit more greens in regulation or at least closer to it. it'll be more fun...you'll appear less foolish and you'll make everyone feel like celebrating when you hit a g.i.r.

At 73 I struggle sometimes with my rigid back. Spinal Stenosis is a poor golfing buddy. However, I like the "challenge" from the black tee. Nope I don't always make the green. So I enjoy a good game of chipping practice more often than not. Sometimes I move to the gold and still have the same problem with the longer par 3 holes. So what. I like chipping practice. It is golf, it is part of the game. Score doesn't always matter either so what if I don't get on the green in "regulation": I am not a pro. I enjoy the game of golf for the fun of it. If someone thinks I need to be on the green in one shot then they are probably behind me waiting for me to find my ball and chip. Ha ha it is the pro wannabees that find it annoying to play behind us fun golfers who don't reach the tee in one shot. Sorry I'll probably be staying on the gold or black tee as I age and get even worse.
