For any YouTube TV subscribers, what are you planning on doing now that they dropped Disney related content including ESPN?
I think I will give it a week or so for them to come to an agreement. I can't believe YouTube TV will let Disney, ESPN, ABC and others walk. They would lose a ton of subscribers, including me

Not ABC. The LOCAL ABC station. National ABC network will still be available. Meanwhile, you are actually getting a break. They're reducing the price of YouTubeTV from $64.99 to $49.99, which is a $15 savings. With that, you can pay $7.99 to sign up for Disney + and get everything you just lost - a net savings of $6.
Since we don't watch Disney channel stuff, only rarely watch anything on ESPN, and can get local news with NBC and CBS, AND because I can watch local ABC online for free, we're saving the full $15. And that's awesome.

Bolded and underlined for emphasis. I CAN do these things. That doesn't mean I do - I don't watch TV at all, except for Survivor because it's entertaining.
We don't get the Weather Channel so we watch the local weather - on the local forcasts. I have access to ABC online for free if I really want to, but I usually just check weather underground, which is so local the closest weather station is four blocks away from my house.

Indeed. In fact they just settled a long negation with ROKU, and when I bought my smart TV a month ago, I had to go through my YouTubeTV phone app to get it on my TV. Now, however, since the negotiation has been settled, I can get it directly on the TV without the phone app.
I suspect this will get worked out, and YouTube TV will get a bump in cost.

Remember how happy we all were when Streaming first became popular? Remember when YouTube TV was released at $35 bucks a month? Then It slithered up to $45 which was reasonable. Then the jump to whatever it is today which is about what I paid for a Great Direct TV package.
I remember a wise owl on TOTV'S saying I'm staying with Direct TV at the higher price that they were charging because we were all trying to figure out ROKU & FIRESTICK and were fumbling and bumbling our way thru it. Is it fair to say that eventually, they all end up being approximately the same price with their fake internal negotiations that are always solved at the last second just in a nick of time? Every channel that I'm aware of that was in peril of being lost was saved.....ooooh! A nice set-up if you ask me.
It's just a big fat pile of NOTHING. It all works out to be the same. More outta your pocket.

That's just great. My team is playing in a new year's day bowl game, I just checked and it is being broadcast on ABC. So, now I won't be able to watch or record it. Thanks for nothing YouTube TV.

You may not understand the way I do.
Disney wants a big price hike, so if you want to keep Disney, then YourTube TV goes from $69.95/month to $84.95/month. Like that?
Xfinity just pays it and raises your rate almost every year.
We saved $55/month dropping Xfinity TV.
We love YouTube TV and the Disney characters are a little, let's say - juvenile, for us.
It'll be resolved soon. Then it's NBC's turn.

YouTube lost us with the lack of customer service. We started with YouTube at $50/month. Cancelled when they jumped to $75 and tried Spectrum. Decided we were unhappy and went back to YouTube; however, they were now charging us for two subscriptions. Seems they didn't really cancel the first account. Now, we're getting charged $150 a month. To make it worse, when Google crashed on Dec 14, 2020, we thought it was a mistake with our account and signed in under a different email. But of course, Google didn't inform its' patreons that they had crashed the system.
So now we discover about 3 months later that we're paying $225 for a month of service. We recogized the problem and tried calling Google. They do not have Customer service and simply hang up and tell you to solve this online. Ok...tried that, but your problem has to fit in their check box; ours did not.
So we started working with our credit card (not the original cc that we started with, but a newer one); Fortunately, we were able to reverse most (but not all) of the months of paying for 3 services. My point is that if you have a problem, it must fit into Google's neat little idea of the only things that can go wrong. If not, your only option is to leave permanently.
We continue to get offers from YouTube, but now that they are dropping ESPN...we're happy to have found different service. Not coming back, YouTube.

I'm thinking back to about 1955 or so: living in the wilds of Northern Minnesota and our little 19" black-and-white TV. We got ONE channel, An ABC Network affiliate out of Duluth, MN with a translator in Hibbing, about 50 miles away from where we lived. I use the word "got" somewhat loosely: The channel came in if the weather was right. If it was cloudy, or during rain or snow--forget it. Nothing but snow. We did get another channel at times--Canadian--but it was in French so we couldn't understand it anyway. We were a family of seven, all crowded around that little TV on a Saturday night to watch Bonanza.
How times change. And I'm not sure for the better.

Since I don't watch the Disney or ESPN channels, I welcome the $15 reduction in the monthly charge. I only watched the ABC channel for Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and, sometimes the local news. Since the local news is still available via channel 27, I can certainly live without the rest of the crap. The major networks are declining rapidly in viewership for good reason, they have little to offer. I know they'll probably resolve this but I would just as soon that they didn't.

We signed up for Hulu TV for $64.95 this morning. I immediately canceled my YouTubeTV. I went through this crap and their fight with Roku. We own two Roku TVs and had to buy Amazon fire sticks for $60 this summer to watch YouTubeTV. Tired of Google’s games with their customers. If you want to live ABC or ESPN sports the only options are Hulu, sling TV, Or return back to Comcast. They’re all in monopoly and we are addicted

I understand that. I did my research and, unfortunately, Hulu Live TV is the only competitor to YouTube TV that has the channels I want at nearly the same price. Looking over the past year, Hulu has not sent a message once to customers concerning losing channels, yet YouTube TV has done it 3 times.
I had DirecTV for 25 years, but when I moved to Florida and discovered the wonderful world of daily rain outs of my signal (including any recordings) along with their high price, I dropped them. Dish has the same issue. I'm still paying half of what I was with Xfinity for the channels I want.

"Not coming back," everyone says that. It costs virtually nothing to send e-mails. I think even, robo calls are legal to people you have had business with.
"Tried calling Google." Another, modern tactic. Try to find a HUMAN to straighten out any problem. Many simply give up. Should you mange to find a HUMAN, you've already been on the phone for half an hour or so and it is difficult to be civil.
"Only option is to leave permanently," sadly that is not an option, they all stink. Welcome to the new world. We have gained quite a bit. You cannot function without all this.

I'm already a Disney+ customer with the Hulu and ESPN+ package. I thought that would cover me just fine and I wouldn't miss any upcoming bowl games on ESPN. I think I was wrong though as ESPN (not ESPN+) requires you to list your cable subscriber. There is nothing that I will care about losing with the loss of Disney. On the other hand, I stick with YoutubeTV primarily for the ability to record unlimited and watch shows at any time I wish. Also, I get past seasons on demand. I too left cable because of their hiding their surprise costs every month. I found up to 13 taxes and fees that they could put on a bill. I save over a hundred bucks per month by cutting the cable. Anything that I wish to watch that I an get on the Internet, I can cast to my TV anyway.
Show me another service that can record unlimited and keep it as long as YoutubeTV and I might be encouraged to change, but only if the price is close to what I am currently paying.
I had the same threats from Comcast programing as I do now. Comcast was constantly warning of certain networks being negotiated and the possible loss of broadcasting from time to time.

me too. Also like not being ripped off by dvr rental fees $ 20 per tv rooms. Wired every room with ethernet but don't use it since 5g wireless makes cable wires obsolete
one thing people should know is, if you switch to internet streaming understand that unless you purchased unlimited wifi the tv data usage gets high and you'll get messages from your internet company about it.
Simple solution is to shut off tvs when not in use similar to shutting lights off in unoccupied rooms.

i never watch anything live. I record everything i want to watch and burn through commercials , i do this even for football i don’t start till about 45 minutes in so i can bypass all the delays , if the game goes badly i’ll switch to another live game , unfortunately then i have to watch the delays , i never start watching till after 7 pm except for football and i mean never , until 7 it’s just music for me whenever i’m in house
game pass will allow you to watch select games in 45 minutes no commercials no dialogue

For any YouTube TV subscribers, what are you planning on doing now that they dropped Disney related content including ESPN?
I think I will give it a week or so for them to come to an agreement. I can't believe YouTube TV will let Disney, ESPN, ABC and others walk. They would lose a ton of subscribers, including me
Sling and Philo are super cheap. Roku TV Live is free and it has a great selection. Peacock is free and several others. I prefer Directtv stream on Roku. So many choices to not have to worry about Googles constant drama over control. Use stream freebies when available or buy pay channels individually. I can choose individual channel apps and not get things I do not watch.

We just upgraded our Hulu subscription to include Disney and ESPN+.(a bundle pkg) $19.99 for ad free. $14.99 with ads.
Except you don't get any actual live TV with that. You get ONLY Hulu, Disney, and ESPN. If you want to watch live TV, you need the Hulu +TV which is $71.00 without ads, or I believe $65 with ads.
With YouTubeTV, you get TV, plus YouTube content, and for another $7.99 you get Disney+ with ESPN and ABC local - and that'll cost less than $65. It was only more, when YouTube included Disney. Now that it's no longer on their roster it's cheaper to pay for it as an add-on.

Just a heads up for people reading here about recommendations for certain alternative options such as "IPTV" services or "thousands of channels for $20/mo" - more often than not these are services providing so-called "pirate" access to premium channels. I personally don't care what choices people make for this, but just know that if you get caught accessing this way, you could be legally culpable for $$$ damages.
In addition, pirated content means the people who are contracted to get paid based on viewership, won't get paid. If that doesn't bother you, I'm sure you won't mind me doing my laundry at your house, using your water and your detergent. Same thing.

Update: I am moving on from Hulu Live TV. The Hulu Live TV DVR is so bad it is unusable! I don't understand how a company can put a product like this out in this day and age. Hulu charges an extra $10/month to not only record a show, but then watch that show without ads. If you don't pay the $10, you get a show full of ads.
Even if you pay this $10, let's say I want to start recording a game, figuring when I get home I'll start it part way in and skip ads until I catch up. Several issues with Hulu DVR here - 1) If the event is still running, sometimes you can't start the recording at the beginning of the event - it starts at the live point you begin watching it. 2) When it does seem to start at the beginning, you can't skip ads. I was told this is by design. You can't skip ads until the event is done and recording is final. 3) If I pause a show in progress, then come back in 30 minutes, I can fast forward the show, but can not skip ads.
I'm testing FuboTV now... but I see that YouTube TV has reached an agreement. As much as I hate to go back, no one else's product is even close on features and use. FuboTV's DVR works as expected with ads - I can skip ads on a recording, pause a show and skip ads. It's functionality for fast forward and rewind leave a lot to be desired. I can move forward or back 15 seconds at a time, or I can blindly move to a time on the play bar. No video feedback to show me where I am in the show. It's actually painful to use.

Agreed. No other service matches the quality and functionality of YTTV's DVR. Just turned on a free 30-day subscription to FUBO and can see the difference right away. Only reason to get FUBO is if you are a sports freak, and need to watch a lot of soccer . But in a perfect world, the ideal service would let you pick and choose the channels you want to pay for. Right now, channels are being sold by the bundle and you get plenty of stuff you never watch. The first service that is able to break this logjam will quickly take over. But don't expect for it to happen soon.

believe that contract expires after this season. I believe the package will be divided amongst the streaming services and cable. Dont see how the monopolization by direct tv benefits anyone. and do you think it will get any cheaper or better , last thing a fan or a bar needs is to be paying for 3 or 4 different venues , or watching a really bad showing on Amazon . I hope direct steps up but I think they have one more year

Others feel the same way about CNN and MSNBC. If you're watching those you really should check out Fox News. Each network has a smidge of reality and it's good to get all sides.
If you're in an echo chamber you'll never think independently.

Their website still says 64.95 month after 3 month trial.

Their website still says 64.95 month after 3 month trial. IIRC, That price was just for a couple of weeks (days?) while they were fighting with Disney, ABC, ESPN and a few others whose service was not available due to a contract dispute. That was resolved rather quickly as it usually is and price is back to "normal."

The price went down because of Disney's pullout. They got Disney back and the price has gone back up to the usual again. Most of us got a discount for one month.
