Dec 27 at 1 PM at the Bridgeport Recreation Center for the Science & Tech Club meeting. Hear about the "Hottest July Ever" and how NOAA and NASA alter and even fabricate climatic temperature data. See how temperature data for Belle Glade, Florida are being created -- even though that observation station stopped reporting in 2005.

So now the Villages has a Science and Tech club that doesn't believe in science? When are you having the lecture on the flat earth?

Merry Christmas!

The audience will also discover that (just last year) over 40% of all long-term, climatic, monthly temperature records were fabricated for observing stations that no longer exist. That percentage began rapidly increasing during the 1990s ... the same time "global warming" became a big news item. Since "science" is based on data, it's helpful to know how temperature data is observed and/or created.

Should be an overflow crowd attending with such an exciting preview.

Not a problem. Since this (and climate change related talks in general) are the most requested and create the most lively Q&A sessions, it is already scheduled for future clubs and "non-science" groups -- and has even be given outside the Villages -- including Gainesville. This talk, along with the "Florida Hurricanes" and the "Villages 2007 Groundhog Day Tornado" talks, are the top 3 most requested. Most can be scheduled for any group, and can be tailored in time and content to fit the event's needs ... TheWeatherClubVillages.com

Considering how much time I probably have left on this earth, the climate is not something I worry about.

How is data falsification science?

Does everyone agree July was a Calamity? :cold:

That great philosopher/scientist Dr. Sheldon Cooper wants to know if this is sarcasm? :coolsmiley:

That depends on how you wish to label NOAA intentions. Here is the URL, which provides the temperature data which is used in today's talk. As you can see, NOAA updates these altered and fabricated temperature records daily ... Index of /pub/data/ushcn/v2.5 (https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/pub/data/ushcn/v2.5/)

Well, I dunno about the data, but this past July (actually, this whole past summer) was the first my wife and I have spent in The Villages and I loved it. Arthritis that plagued me in Minnesota was just about nonexistent here. And tee times in the afternoons were absolutely no problem.

What's not to like?

Conspiracies are easily fact-checked by looking at the data. The NOAA URL provides both the "original" and "changed" (both the altered and fabricated) temperature data ... Index of /pub/data/ushcn/v2.5 (https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/pub/data/ushcn/v2.5/)

U.S. current conditions data comes from 180,000+ weather stations across the country including: Almost 2,000 Automated Surface Observation System (ASOS) stations located at airports throughout the country.
So how many stations are reporting bogus information how many have you found?

There are over 1,200 stations listed. How about pointing out two or three of the fabricated stations?

I already identified one. There are literally hundreds. It's really quite astonishing the power NOAA has to created data for hundreds of observing stations to DO NOT exist.

The best (or worst, depending on viewpoint) example of NOAA data fabrication in the state of Florida is Belle Glade, with over 16 years of data manipulations. Let me know if you want the complete USA list, and I'll provide that. In the meantime, here is an 8-minute summary of today's 40-minute talk ... You can look online at ones in just villages and find 10 or more degree difference. I doubt it’s intentionally, just faults reading.

OP might want to consider a book. There is money and perhaps 15 minutes of fame in conspiracy theories.

High Humidity and thunderstorms!
Heh. Don't mind the humidity. Its a fact of life down here, like frost on the windshield every Minnesota winter. You live with it.

Thunderstorms? Yeah. They're real down here. Didn't take me long to learn to take along an umbrella on my walk even if the sky looks fair. My walks are usually about 1.5 hours long and a lot seems to be able to bow up in that time. One time I was out for my walk and a storm blew up about a half hour before I'd get home. Bowing to the inevitable, I just took off my shirt and kept on going. The guy at the gate house saw me and said with a grin, "did you forget something"?

"Yeah", I replied. "A bar of soap".
