There is a lot of splashing out in the open water areas of the spring does anyone know what it is? One day someone says it is fish feeding on insects another day it's the springs bubbling up.

Just looking for the correct answer if anyone knows?

Here's what we were told: The vents under the water in those springs causes the water to bubble. Every once in awhile you will see a black tail out of the water. That is the black armored catfish going after the stuff that has stirred up from that bubbling.

I've also heard that the water coming directly from the spring head is poorly oxygenated and that the fish there (largely invasive armored catfish) splash the water to get some air into it to "breathe" through their gills.
