Stopped by to get a frosty around 5 pm today. Sign in window stating sorry we are closed....no staff!!
With a new 7/11 under construction next door and new Dairy Queen down the street.....and all the other new businesses under construction in and around TV.....where is the staff going to come from?
Ran into similar problems at doctor's office this week.
Had to reschedule lab work because there was nobody availalble to do the work.
Not much discussion by civic and private leaders about solutions to an obvious growing problem.
Build it and they will come currently needs repair.....and the new businesses continue to build!?

Probably due to lack of customer’s they don’t take cash. :) plus kind of off beaten path for villager’s.
Let’s see how many employees does it take when don’t need order taker’s or cashiers?
I don’t know about the drive through, I would imagine it was full service?

Yep, got to to computer place you’re order and stick card in to pay format. Wave of the future when cash become’s path of the dinosaur. That way all transaction can be monitored down to penny.

If I had that Wendy’s franchise, I’d really be worried about making my required monthly payments to the parent Corp. This is a heck of a time to open a new place. Hope they make it.

It is kind of hard to get to right off from CR466. You have to go through the Aldi's parking lot or south on 301.

Good, because the new one in Leesburg sucks.

We visited that Wendy’s drive thru to try their new French Fries , long wait was told 1 fryer was down finally a server came out after we had moved over onto the side parking lot with our order and two free shakes to repay for the long wait , good. compensation for bad service but not a good indicator for a new restaurant.

It’s easy entry and exit from/to 301S. I visited last week. Used drive-thru. No problem. No inside ordering yet.

I’m paying $25/hour on a job that last year was $18/hour in a position that does not require anything above HS education. Small businesses are being priced out of the economy.
The Villages has the cheapest labor pool paying $10/hour for your neighbors who work at the golf courses. Please remember that the next time you golf. They could make $18 per hour working at Wend’s or Aldi’s but are working in our neighborhood so we can all have a good round.
Your $1 cheeseburgers may be a thing of the past considering what it takes to motivate someone off of government benefits to get a job & actually show up.
Hope everyone planned well for retirement given the price increases we are experiencing!
Untrue bait material.
For one....Wendy's has had a sign out front since before opening...$11 per hour!!!

My humble opinion is that these situations are going to get worse before they get better. TV (almost all non-working retirees) is expanding too fast. Not enough workers (mostly low paying jobs) to handle additional influx. To make matters worse, BJ's is opening a new store on 27/441. Bet they are paying a hire labor rate than Wendys and other fast-food stores. I saw this fast-food restaurant going up and back then I ?''d how they were going to staff this restaurant.
Whether we like it or not US is going to need more immigrants into this country. Currently birth rate in US is declining and there will be demand for more worker bees. Politicians need to work together to rectify this "getting worse" problem.
This is not a local problem but is exacerbated by the age disparity demographics in this area.

They should just leave it closed until they can get good, trained staff in there. Had a chicken sandwich there recently and the chicken was dry and tough. Worst ever!

I stopped in there once. No counter (or real people) service. You enter your order on a kiosk. Ok, not a big problem. Except every time I put in my order and submitted it, there was an "unexpected error". Same for the guy on the kiosk next to me. We both finally said, "we can go elsewhere" since there were no human beings around who would deal with the problem. I won't stop back in.

Yep, no show workers can't complain if robots take their jobs. They get what they deserve.

Cane Garden closed at 6 yesterday because of staffing. One cook and few waitresses. Luckily we got there around 4 and got good service and our food was good.

At least you wont have to tip the robot.
Mind you, it may take a byte out of your meal!

We were there on Friday. The drive-thru was open. The front door was locked. A sign on the door read "dining room closed due to staffing shortages."

Some of it is due to omicron and it's affecting businesses everywhere. If positive or exposed, no work.
For those that just don't to work, maybe with so many jobs available, the time allowed to collect unemployment should be shortened.

There are a number of things which contribute to labor shortages, especially here. With continued growth of businesses in the area, comes a greater demand for employees. At this point, I believe the demand has outgrown the labor pool. There are simply not enough people in the area to fill the vacancies. In addition, there is little incentive for workers to move here as there is not place to live. There are very few affordable apartments in the area. Put this together with the government subsidies and workers are simply saying no to work

Oh for C#$&*@ sake.
Went thru the drive in.
Lady came out of the building. Turns out she was the manager, moved here from Maine last summer. She said would open the dining room as soon as she was able to get more employees. Too often, she said current employees just don’t show up for work and then come back a day later as if nothing was wrong by not showing up. Said there were three employees running the place as we talked. It was around 4:30 and she had been there since 5:30AM and was tired.
We proceeded to place our order and paid with cash.
Are you still hanging?

We are lacking working age people! When I was growing up most kids in high school had a job at a fast food place. Now teenagers are so busy they don't work. Also the housing for families here is nonexistent. I talked to workers at Walgreens pharmacy they drive an hour each way to get to work. Workers at Urgent Care drive from Orlando to get here. Gas prices don't make it any easier. It's not just the food industry that has a shortage of workers. Look at the help wanted ads. I was at the Wendy's on 301 last Friday and the manager apologized and said the wait time would be longer because lack of staff. He was taking orders and filling drinks and making shakes. He gave us an extra shake (Frosty) and apologized for the wait.
