Lot's of lost and founds posted recently so here's real fishy one. Wife and I were on our daily morning walk down the MMP on Morse this morning between O'Dell and LSL around 9-ish when she spotted what she thought was dead squirrel and did her usual "eeeewwwwww" but upon a second look it turned out it was a LARGE WHOLE FISH bleeding from it's gills. Was going to bring it to the L & F but decided that was a "stinky" idea. So if anyone dropped their uncooked fish dinner it's probably still on the MMP about 75 yards before the Stillwater gate heading North. Weather has been pretty cool so it's probably still edible. :1rotfl:
We've seen a lot of strange stuff on that part of the Morse MMP over the last 5 years but this took the fish cake.

Might have been dropped by Osprey or Eagle, they haven't been advised about catch and release policy here.

Good point on the bird drop as well. Never crossed my mind. I had no idea how it could have got there.

They will try to carry a fish too big for them.

Supposedly, limit for osprey 4-5 lbs, eagles. 5-6 ... In Alaska I saw eagles routinely carrying fish I judged to be significantly larger. Also witnessed an eagle snatch a small dog off the bow of a boat.

How far did the eagle get with the dog?

My guess is all the way back to her chicks. Eagles have to eat too. Sadly, owners learn the hard way to keep small pets very close if they don't want to lose them.😥

I have nothing to add, other than the thread is pretty entertaining.

Sounds like fish story to me. You know how the fish grows and weighs more each time the story told. :duck:

Yes I agree it was probably a Bird of some sort the dropped it. I’m lucky enough to to live on the river. When I’m not in Florida and I have had trout dropped on my driveway before with a couple puncture holes in it I believe from Claws. I have also found turkey eggs on my driveway, I think they were from a turkey.
3 pounds would’ve been enough for a fish fry

Well, they obviously did know the rules. That's why they released it. Their release aim was off a little and missed the nearest swimming pool.

No fish tail here. Back in the 80's while living in Leesburg, I had a knock on my door with this fellow holding a fish in one hand. He told me he needed someone to witness the hole in the windshield of his car. I walked out to see his windshield was indeed smashed from this fish.He said his wife would never believe him. It was a nice bass.

The real "fishy" story is why are so many subjects so lightweight lately?

Possibly because when the repartee gets a bit "pointed", or the participants get a bit strong or enthusiastic in their comments, the thread gets closed even though the participation is still high, showing people want to participate. Popular, if not loved, threads get closed while threads with little or no posts become Yesterdays Hot Topics. Go figure!😑

The image in my mind is peacefully walking along the trail and having a fish fall on my head.
