Our group played belle glade Seminole to calusa ,1,20,2022…a cow pasture would put this course to shame, what little grass there is on the fairway is either weeds or green pigment, the greens looked like a herd of cows walked across them, who ever is in charge here should get out of the office and take a ride on the course, more craters and bare spots than the Ho Chi Minh trail…disgusting,to charge $50 to play,,,deplorable an insult to the bottom of your shoes…

The Village courses do not overseed their bermuda fairways. Bermuda is dormant until nightttemps are above 70 degrees. So, if you find a cow-pasture you like see what the farmer charges and let us know.

Played there same day as OP. Conditions weren't all that bad, just typical for this time a year. I will say the bunkers were more tracked up than usual. Which reminds me to point out wearing rubber-soled shoes is no excuse for not raking.
Oh, in one bunker I saw hoof prints. Cloven hoof prints! Either a feral hog ran through, or perhaps it was the devil. That would explain a lot. :ho:

Yeah, that was kind of a bummer, but then again I suppose the developer is running on low financially.:icon_wink:

That's good to know, did they give you your money back when you ask them? Or are you just on this site.

Just played Belle today.
Played a different rotation.
Except for one green (which they are working on) the course was in good shape.
Do I wish there was more grass, deeper roughs......of course, but it's TV.
Looked for cow tracks................did not see any.
The OP has no credibility with me.

I played there yesterday, as well (Tequesta/Seminole). Yes the fairways and rough were short (as expected in January). The greens rolled true and fast.. The tees were fine.
Shot an 87 with two Birdies! Only dropped three in the water... :ohdear:

I've lived in Tampa for 30 years and played lots of courses in FL. Even private clubs there have issues this time of year. Do you follow the local rule of 90 degrees with your cart? I'm guessing the answer is no. My wife and I play 18 at least twice a week and I observe the large majority of players driving down the middle of the fairway. Also, lots of rounds played and it's hard to tell where the rough starts - I get it. These are our courses, try to stay off the fairway and keep you cart on the path by the greens. Yes, often it's like playing off boiler plate. Move the ball back a bit in your stance is what I have learned. I'm more upset about the wave versus greens fees. Multiple times there are long, long delays after the turn. They need to cut out a couple of tee times. At these rates, this should corrected without question. Now, don't get me started with dragging feet on the greens, divots not filled and all the ball marks that are not repaired. I have found the best way to deal with all of this is to bring a little something to sip on....and enjoy the day!

Played Calusa/Taquesta yesterday expecting terrible conditions after reading the OP. I was pleasantly surprised that I saw little to none of what was described.

Just played Glenview and Lopez and I was surprised that the fairways were in pretty good shape. Both courses had very nice true rolling greens with nice speed.

Same experience for me playing Lopez, Cane, Palmer, and Tierra over the last two weeks. Some of the best conditions I can ever remember playing in the Villages during January.

It surprises me what some people think are good conditions on a golf course,I have lived here since 2006 thanks to early retirement,at that time the golf courses between 466 and 466a were in beautiful shape, there was no bonifay or belle glade or evans prairie…and glenview,Lopez and Tierra del sol,and hacienda hills were the least played.the courses were over seeded in winter and maintenance on them much better…golf is one of the lures to buy here, but it seems now growth is a priority and keeping up existing facilities is falling on hard times…corses are not maintained by golf maintenance companies, and the out look for hacienda is dire …so can’t see why people think belle glade is anything more than a $20 muni…but opinions are just that…villages needs a resident golf association to interact with developers and course superintendents….

I agree. Some people I think maybe never played much golf until retirement and haven't really experienced nicely maintained golf courses. My experience is that there are always a few golf courses in TV that are just lousy. No other word for it. We just avoid them when putting in a tee time request. The Villages has always had problems with maintenance because they subcontract the work out. I believe these companies have a contract and the Villages is stuck with them for a certain amount of time, so if you get a company that doesn't do a great job, there isn't much they can do until the contract is up. There are always great deals on really nice courses if you're willing to travel outside The Villages. Also, lets face it, TV has a captive audience here because its handy and we have our personal golf carts, so there isn't as much incentive to keep things pristine.

Spruce Creek South has overseeded tees, fairways and greens. Best shape it's ever been in. $25 after 1pm with coupon. Any they give you a nice, new EZ GO Lithium Ion cart to use. Since you use your own cart in The Villages, you can consider greens fees to be around $20 over priced.

I am not sure what you saw out there but I couldnt find a weed in any fairway. I was expecting terrible conditions! There was grass everywhere its just beat down from our cart traffic in the middle of Winter. Tees were fine and greens were off color but rolled fine. I just cant imagine how bad of a day someone must have to lie and speak so bad of things in which they know nothing about. God Bless America, Lets Go Brandon!

Although I haven’t played Belle Glade recently, I totally agree about the conditions in general. Played Palmer on Saturday and Glenview yesterday and both were excellent. The greens at both courses were rolling as true and fast as ever, and there was much more grass in the fairways than the last few winters. This is the easiest time of the year to put up low scores. There is basically no penalty for hitting into the rough and a low draw off the t box seemingly rolls forever. Lots of scoring wedges into the greens on the second shot of the par 4’s. Golf On : (

I'm sorry, but what's a "low draw"? Never hit one of those...:1rotfl:

I was just up in Rhode Island prior to the big storm they had last week. Played one round of golf. The course in mid January was in better shape than any course in The Villages. Golf here is such a rip off there are much better courses outside the bubble.

What a disappointing golf course. Layout is great but condition is horrible. I sorta get the dormant fairway grass but there is no excuse for dirt bottom traps, lossy tee boxes, and horrible greens. Wonder what they would do about the conditions if everyone boycotted golf for a week causing their revenue stream to dry up. Maybe they would wake up and give us courses worth paying $67 to play.

$1k priority for the privilege of paying $50 to play on a fairway with little to no grass.

I kind of doubt it. People complain but have no willpower. You suggest a week it wouldn’t last a couple of days.

Been playing golf for 10 years in The Villages. Belle Glade Calusa has the worst greens I have ever experienced in 10 years. Bare spots galore. Tequesta and Seminole are better. I would avoid Calusa until they improve.

Well, I imagine they'd simply raise some other fee to compensate for the loss. This seems to be the developer's business strategy. (I'm still burned about having to buy a trail fee along with my priority membership.)

Played yesterday.
Greens are very nice.
Fairways could use some more water.
Quite mowing the roughs so much!!!.....but easy to find your ball!!!
Water is very low & all the gators are out.
