I posted about this a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately the hits number was disappointing.

Here is a great video that St. Baldrick’s put together.

Here is some updated information regarding the St. Baldrick’s Children’s Cancer fund raiser being held at Tuscany Day Spa & Salon October 30, 2010:

34 shavees have registered, 24 are from The Villages Fire Department including Chief Michael Tucker, and the owner of Chik-fil-a has recently volunteered to get his head shaved too.

Chik-fil-a will be there with food to purchase and play their wheel of fortune game…the Chik-fil-a cow will be there in his fire gear!

The Villages Cheerleaders will be there

Petrina (singing entertainer) will emcee the event

Lol studios will be doing the video for the shavees as well as regular photography.

You do not have to get your head shaved to be a participant…..

TV will close the street between Tuscany Day Spa & Salon and the Tai Ruby restaurant, where event tents to be placed.

Pass this along as you feel appropriate. If you know anybody that would volunteer to participate in the head shaving event or make a donation, call Patti at Tuscany ( 352-350-2401).

I am personally having my head shaved at the event (what there is of it anyway). While my wife is a cancer survivor and we participate in many events in TV as well as nation wide....I have become smitten by what I have recently learned about the effect of cancer on children.

billethkid, you are a good guy for posting and passing this along. It is hard to explain but your post has encouraged me to make a donation to the organization. By you taking the time to post this, that one simple act of kindness on your part really had an impact on me.

I actually saw the link last night on the Tuscany Day Spa site. I was looking up a location in TV for another poster on TOTV to get a facial. I read about the organization and the event and forced myself to stop reading because it made me sad for some very personal reasons.

I opened up your thread and there it is again. This time I'm not going to let it make me sad. I'm not going to ignore it. Ignoring and/or avoiding something sure doesn't make it disappear. I'm going to donate. Again, thanks billethkid.

btk is my father and I am excited and proud to sit next to him while we shave our heads together for a great cause!!

Thank you for choosing to support this fight. Of all cancers, children's cancers are happening at the fastest rate...every 3.5 minutes a child is diagnosed. That is a staggering number and 1 in 5 will lose their battle.

I am moved Pibb26. What a wonderful thing to do and to post such a touching thing about your father. It appears that it is true; the apple does not fall far from the tree.

It starts at 1pm, I'll be there around that time. I'll look for you guys.

Unfortunately, I'm not brave enough to shave my head but I will make a contribution. Extremely worthy cause and I'm looking forward to supporting BTK and Pibbs in their brave action. Unfortunately, I've had my head shaved once and it was too emotional (as a vain woman) to do it again, but I will donate and be supportive.

I have witnessed the one in five that did survive and will always be grateful for our wonderful modern medicine research and advancements.

See you there !!!

PS, Petrina and Tuscany are the best, so let's all get out and support their efforts.

St. Baldricks event. Some of us have chosen to get our heads shaved in keeping with the theme of the original 40 mothers of cancer victim children.
You can participate by making a donation and coming out to cheer on the fire fighters and other shavees.

I wish all of you could have been outside Tuscany Spa yesterday to witness such a great event. We had a huge crowd and soooo many people (men and women) having their heads shaved for the cause. I watched as BTK and Pibbs had their heads shaved, as well as Patty (salon owner) and about 40+ firefighters. There also was a young lady around 15 YO who had the most beautiful long, curly hair who shaved her head in support of her aunt currently fighting cancer.

Many photos were taken and I will try to post as many as I can. I even won a raffle prize :MOJE_whot: !!!

Tuscany and Petrina are the best, it was awesome!!!
