Has anyone else gotten a credit card charge from Rapida LLC? We received a charge from them for $10.67. I've never heard of them, looked them up and from what I can tell it does not look legit. Called our credit card company; we could cancel our card, but what an ordeal to change all our online payments (and receive another card in 7 days). Any thoughts? Thanks.

Freeze you card at a minimum. Test charges are often lower in the hope you don’t notice it. Anything Russian is a red flag. Even had a charity do a dollar test charge. Err on side of caution

No real help, but I would suggest you do not use auto-pay and that you have a cc for on-line only and a different one for everyday.

I've gotten a few since Jan 1st. Russian? or unless anyone know what this is:
Smhutscxvtp Oukob $2.65

The best news.. I didn't have to do anything as I have an apple card. The apple mastercard itself has no numbers on it and changing a card number is a mouse click - no need for a new card. In addition the 3 digit code on the back(which isn't printed on the physical card anyway) is rolling (changes often) so even if they have your number...will be hard to get the rolling 3 digit code.

it's pretty obvious that's a fraudulent charge, there is no such company and it definitely looks made up. Second point is they don't always need the 3 digit code.

Last point - all card information is stored on the phone, there is always a card number, exp date and code. just because you can change it doesn't mean it can't be stolen please don't be that foolish.

A good protection option is to active the card security option to automatically be notified (by text) if your card is used for an online transaction.

That way you can lock the card immediately if used by a scammer.

Make sure you are aware of all online transactions you or your spouse makes so you don’t lock the card unnecessarily…

No question it will be stolen-- the future waits for nobody.
My only point is I don't need to wait for a new card.

This is all new to me. Why would your bank be affiliated with a Russian bank? Never heard of this. Are you sure you didn’t get your personal information broken into? This is interesting!

A few years ago, B of A called me and asked if I had just charged $965 at the airport in Dubai. I had not, so they disputed the charge and then sent me a new card.

Report immediately. It is probably a test charge. If it goes thru you may get a bigger charge next.

Have your bank or cc text you for any transaction over $1. You won't have to wait to spot a fraudulent charge.

Based on what you say, it is likely a fraudulent charge possibly someone overseas buying goods online where the merchant is in Russia. I had something similar several months ago where two relatively small charges came from a Chinese online store. Then a larger fraudulent charge was made on Amazon. I had no choice but to cancel my card and get a new one. Fortunately, most of my preexisting accounts connected with the old credit card number automatically rolled over to the new credit card number. My card is AMEX.

If your credit card number has been sold on the internet (dark web), you will likely have more fraudulent charges and then your credit card company will cancel your existing card if you don’t.

They will try with a small amount and if it goes thru then they will hit the card with a big number - get a new card!

Compromised retail systems are not uncommon. Cancel card and move forward

Just dispute the charge. They will investigate. Did your credit card statement show you a phone number for the company? If so, call them. Find out who they are. I hand a similar situation and called the company. They took the charge off.

When you use your card you never know really if it's going to be stolen especially online so what I do since I have Capital One as I am allowed to make up a new number online for every single account that I pay for it takes about a moment you should ask your credit card company if they do that also. And if you're worried about your online payments with regular accounts . Take the time and change all the numbers it's well worth it

Do not call the number if you believe it to be a fradulent charge. Calling them back gives them your phone number in addition to your valid cc info. Then, they use your number to run up charges on your phone service.

The best credit card tip I know is to copy the 3 digit code on the back of your credit card to a note pad on your phone and keep a paper copy at home.

Then use a sharp tool to scrape the number off the back of your card.

When you give your card to someone to pay they cannot take a quick picture of the front and back of your card and use it online.

Most businesses want the 3 digit code from your card to complete a sale.

Also consider having your credit card company send you a text whenever you use your credit card. This happens within a minute of you using your card. You will then know whether you used the card or if someone else is making a charge on your card.

Fraudulent charge, call your card company, report it to their security dept., and get a new card.

Don’t think twice and cancel your card immediately! They do this to see if you react and if you don’t wham a huge charge on your card which you will have to fight!!!

B of America text me every time I have an on line charge in order to verify ok or not! They called me once asking me where I was, I told them Jacksonville and they told me that someone in Brazil was trying to run my card for $6,000 which they obviously denied 🤣

I keep track of my receipts. OK truth, I stick my wife with them and she does a good job.
You have reported it as a payment dispute. Your credit card company will not pay the company but rather ask for an explanation or the charge. Your card. If, someone has stolen your card in say a restaurant or on line purchase and then will sell your credit card information they often will put through a small charge to see if the number is valid and then pile on the charges. By notifying your card company, they will be watching for such activity. Change the card number? I would ask the credit card company. Card insurance? Reminder I am not accepting responsibility for ANY damages. My understanding your liability assuming it is a credit card NOT a debit card
is limited to $50.

It's an advantage to have your online payments come from your credit card giving you extra points, but it does mean that when compromised that you must redo everything. If you have a bank or broker/dealer like eTrade that does bill pay, then the credit card issue is solved. Plus you can make a payment of any kind to any person and the payment is mailed to them free of charge.

Take note here everyone on the great advice. :BigApplause:

My cc that I use for monthly utility payments near leaves my home safe.
That way if it does get hacked, your working with one card and not 2 or 3.

One more thing......

When requesting a new card, make sure you get a new number.
When I get on my computer every morning, I take 5 minutes, log in on my 3 credit cards.
and check for illegal activity.

Also:

FREEZE your credit with all 3-credit reporting company's

Throw out all debit cards and don't use ATM, I hate them both.

Brought to you by your best financial expert.......GOD!

Could it have been a purchase from a vending machine? I bought a bottle of soda at Millenia Mall in Orlando from one of those machines with my CC and I was billed from Italy.

Yea, I’ve had this happen but it wasn’t Russia that sent me a charge on my credit card!
