I've ordered from "Signs by Jackie" as I had a certificate from my realtor after we bought a villa last summer.
I provided the graphic for the design (I'm a designer) and I didn't order anything complicated. It was not a great experience customer service wise but I proceeded to order. I went to pay and afterward was told the time frame for delivery is 10-12 weeks! I was assuming it was up to 3 weeks as their website stated. Not happy.
Any suggestions on vendors for address and name signs for the lamp post in TV, with a timely turnaround? I'm thinking of canceling that order.

You ordered something that isn't one of their standard options. You created your own new design. That means they have to create a new template, they can't use any of the dozens of existing templates. So they'll get to it when they get to it. Their standard stuff comes within 2-3 weeks, because they only have to pull out the existing templates and press them into the machine.
Also, you can't order a custom sign online, you have to call them and talk to someone directly. So it shouldn't matter what the website says about turnaround time, it should only matter what the person on the other end of the phone told you about turnaround time.

It looks like there are lots of custom online sign vendors. You can get any size, material, and design you want. Am I missing something?

Searching Amazon.com, there 20,000 outdoor sign options, starting at less than 10 dollars.

3 months with Signs by Jackie is pretty much the norm now with all the new sales. We ordered our sign the end of Sept and it was finally installed around Christmas. And yes we did add a little personal change to our sign.

Just curious what others are doing. I like to see the physical sign before buying, I'm one of those picky graphic designers.

Okay, thanks. I wish it was updated on their website or mentioned right up front.

We used Bob Martin Signs. Great quality and fast service. Came home one day and the sign was hanging on our lamp post!

I did a custom design as well. I didn’t want to order through Jackie’s, but ended up there anyway. I couldn’t get a return call from Farris. I didn’t like the ones at Ace (and wasn’t confident they could do custom, although to be fair I didn’t ask). So, I waited for the one fromJackie’s. Pro tip: don’t lose your order number. If you have a question during the wait time, the ONLY way they can look you up is by your order number. Weird…

I just ordered a standard sign and was told it would take three months. Not three weeks.

I bought one of those signs that lights up years ago from a vendor at Sumter landing.
The lights died, does anyone know are they still around?
I still have the glass design.

That is what happens when you get something that is not standard. They actually do great work with their standard inventory selections, and it is usually installed in less than two weeks. Don't blame them for the delay. If you go to McDonald's and order a 1/4 pounder with ketchup, no onions, no mustard...the same thing happens.

We ordered our post sign from Farris, we did have problems about a month timeframe. But remember many vendors are not receiving their supplies in a timely manner

We have a lighted sign by Jackie bought 10 years ago. Still worked but sign needed to be repainted so went back to Jackie’s and they refurbished our sign for about half the cost of a new one. Took about 6 weeks or so. Very happy with our refurbished sign, looks brand new! Highly recommend Signs by Jackie.

As in most things that are Florida-specific, web designers don't keep up with the websites of the companies they design websites for. The owner of Jackie's probably wouldn't know how to design a website even if he had the instruction manual. He paid someone to create it for him, and maybe MAYBE remembers to ask the designer to update it every few years.
Most local (non-chain) restaurants around here don't even have websites of their own, you still have to call them on the phone or physically go to the store just to see their menu, or go to Facebook and send a message, and hope that they answer you within the week.
Welcome to Florida, where Google Pay was an afterthought that they finally realized was useful last year, and where you have to pay an extra fee for the privilege of paying your tax bill by credit card.

Sent Signs by Jackie artwork for my custom sign. The graphic artist there then sent me a proof to OK. Sign turned out exactly as planned. And after many years it still looks new.

I went with Ace Hardware. 1 week
What's the difference. 3 weeks...3 months. Who cares. You're retired. Relax. Have a drink. Jackies did a great job on our lighted sign.

I feel Jackie’s is the most popular. We have ordered a couple signs from them and they installed the post sign for us. Very happy with them. As said, ordering something they need to create will take longer.

When it comes to custom order graphic designs, if you know what you're doing extra lead time should be measured in hours, not weeks.

I agree. If a local vendor can't do the job in a few days, they are probably using an online service, and adding a profit. Why not just deal directly with an online vendor?

There are a lot of companies on eBay that sell metal signs with names and addresses of your choice. Different companies may have different designs. When I moved here, I chose one that had a design I liked, typed in what I wanted on the sign, and paid. The sign arrived much faster than promised, and I was very pleased with the quality.

We used Bob Martin Signs and were very happy. We basically put together our own sign with the company's software and a week or two after we placed the order our sign was up on our light post.

Did fine by us, too. When the generic sign gifted to us by the Properties of The Villages sales person failed after Hurricane Irma, we went to Jackie's with a custom graphic design and they created and installed it within a few weeks.
Now things are different. The influx of so many people south of Hwy 44 isn't matched by an increased supplier base. Everything has slowed down when it comes to finding skilled labor. Not only new residents but all of us are experiencing the same thing. I would advise the OP to be patient. It's simply the times you''re living in.

Sure it is. You type in
lamp post signs near me
If you're looking to buy anything, you just add "near me" to the end of your search string, and the first results will be whatever is available near you.

Bob Martin’s Signs. Two week wait, $60. Our names, house number & two palm trees. He prints a full-page picture for your approval before making it, hangs it himself in your yard.

Okay, thanks. I wish it was updated on their website or mentioned right up front.
I am sure as with any custom work the delivery time will vary by how busy they are, and how custom the work is that is required.
This would be difficult to provide as a part of their website so I believe posting a time for a standard sign is very appropriate.
