I took the time to read through this piece. My only comment is why would anyone try to stop them filming. The film is probably an excellent advertisement for TV. However, having said that, it is I believe an Australian effort and how many Aussies are likely to make it to TV?

The article was even featured in the Drudge Report "news rag".
As I submitted via their contact access....total and complete biased, prejudiced, fake news BS!
A representation of some of the one or two percent here that dislike everything about TV and the developer.

The other 98% of us are enjoying what we bought here......18 years ago.....and would do so again.

Not many, but a few weeks ago
I met an Aussie at the pool that
was looking for a home here!
And have a few friends here, that are expats from the UK
and Canadian neighbors, so it’s not all bad!

Let's see - from the movie trailer - commentary from Lauren Ritchie, Orlando Sentinal "reporter" who built a career writing negative opinion pieces about The Villages, and some lady outside the bubble who probably wishes she took the developer's offer when building came by. Plenty of those holdouts who are not too happy now.

Beneath warm blue skies, palm trees shade immaculate homes surrounded by verdant, lush grass.

Geez, where do I find that "verdant, lush" grass? Mine is all brown.

The ambulances turn their sirens off and the funeral cars are unmarked because no one wants to be reminded of the inevitability of death.

Say what? We hear ambulances all day. When you do you know there is probably going to be another home available for sale.

it reminds me of when my golf buddies are bitching at me and my partners after a round. That means we won.
Likewise, the more criticism of our lifestyle here in TV, the more they have to be jealous about.

John Prine wrote a song called "Hello In There", about old people sitting around just doing nothing, waiting to die. I guess that's what these documentarists think we should be doing. Nope. No thank you.

Isn't Ms Blankenbyl Austrian? I believe her film is premiering in Australia.

It was released in the US last November. The distributors are getting a little desperate.

Maybe they are trying to get housing prices reduced so they can buy in.

This is a bunch of rubbish. If this lady is so upset, why doesn’t she just leave so somebody els can move in and enjoy life here. Maybe this lady would rather live in LA or NYC and listen to gun shots and see all the killing and robberies going on.

When the Aussies learn about all of the swinging, and STDs, property values here will go even higher than their current trajectory.
If you think there are a lot of injuries in pickleball and softball, wait until you try Australian Rules Football.

But they are friendly.

"Misplaced communities where people used to gather"??? The Villages built over them? Not that facts matter to those ignorant blowhards.

I'm an Aussie and I'm here (although I've lived in Canada for 50+ years!)

The "creator" of the film is Valerie Blankenbyl is from Vienna, Austria, The film is being shown at an Australian film festival not made there. Obviously she didn't do enough research before making this "film" and the misrepresentation that she puts fourth is laughable.

When they talk about our perfect bubble I wish they would mention how we support the outside community!

The promo is creepy, parts of it were not even filmed in TV or were staged. The tone is disgusting and bears no resemblance to reality. Another filmmaker making stuff up to make money.
Stupid.

When this was first released in May, I posted my comments https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/villages-florida-general-discussion-73/another-documentary-documentary-about-villages-bubble-319518/index2.html#post1943028

Having now watched it fully 2 more times since it came out and trying again to watch it just now in order to be objective in my comments and critique the best I can say of it is that it is pure biased trash, and my first critique was overly generous in praise.

For those of us who live here and try to enjoy our life in our "golden years" and make the best of what our community has to offer, this film is a major insult to our dignity and integrity.

Yes, there will be those that live here that swear that every word of this film is the gospel truth and an objective representation of The Villages. To those of you that feel this way I have but one question: Why are you still here? The housing market is on fire, sell now while the money is good and leave this bastion of debauchery, it is only going to get worse for you! Nobody will stop you or begrudge you for the profit you will make. Please feel free to go someplace that will make you happy.

Is The Villages perfect? Not hardly, it and we have our flaws and difficulties. Most of us will try to make the best of it and enjoy what it has to offer, anything else is simply a disservice to one's own self.

Those of you who know me, have read my writings in the past, have watched my YouTube Videos (https://www.youtube.com/goldwingnut) and have seen my position on items that come before the CDD board and PWAC know that I am neither friend nor foe of the developer and am unafraid to stand up for the facts and truth, if it's good I'll gladly say so, and if it's bad I strive to make that even more clear.

Of course, there are some out there that think me nothing more than a lackey for the developer that has drank the cool aid. So be it, I'll never convince you elsewise. To you, I'll raise my cup and proudly reprise those famous words of Chip Diller "Thank You, Sir! May I Have Another?".
